Stage 1 tune & long term reliability?
I'm wanting to get an OFT mainly for monitoring purposes and the basic 91 octane tune. My FRS is my only source of transportation and I need it to be 100%.
However, how does a tune hold up over time while the car is being broken in? |

On 91 octane and even 93 the stock tune will knock quite badly seen stock tune pull up to 4 degrees and have Ignition advance multiplier running around 0.7 where it should be 1. OFT tunes and other reputable tunes will see minimal if any knock. when a tune appropriate to the fuel you have available is flashed.. Most tuners including OFT will offer 91 and 93 tunes. Its easy to flash back to stock for service |

I ran the generic tune until the octane specific ones came out and I'm using the 91 tune now since that's what I fill up with. Knocking on wood, I haven't had a single CEL or other funny engine behaviour. My only other engine mod at this point is a drop in air filter. |
