2015firestormFRS thread
I picked up my frs in July and have been reading on this forum since before that, but I figured I'd make a thread to document my ownership of the car like my old civic hatch build.
Old 96 civic hatch I named Ramona, built over 3 years, my daily and mountain road shredder out here in the Appalachian foot hills And eventually decided it was time to move on. Sold it and then picked up my new love my 2015 firestorm FRS. I named her Fiona After getting her home I immediately put a real detail to her, full clay bar, cleaner wax, and paint sealant. The paint was filthy and the dirt baked on the surface from the dealership lot. Squeaky clean Picked up a few little things, k&n drop in panel air filter, Mtec shifter springs, and got a steal on the Borla catback exhaust from an ebay vendor That's about it for now, figured I'd make a threw swings I've lurked here long enough. Picking up some wrx 16" alloy drift spares tomorrow and some free used tires for my first drift event January 3rd. I'm pretty excited coming from grip driving an FF this will be quite a learning curve. I've been practicing in an empty lot around cones holding donuts getting closer and further from the fine and figure eights. Thanks for stopping by to check it out so far, will update when I pick up wheels tomorrow. |

Nice EK man. I too came from the Honda crowd.
Shame on the dealership for letting the car get that dirty. |

That Civic was beautiful and a true proper tuned Civic.
Anyways understand you wanting to try something different, same for my when i got bored of awd and turbo powered cars and wanted to switch to NA FR. Good choice you made and i think you'll do a proper job on the FRS!

Nah it'll be fine. It's a lot of sidewall so it might feel a bit sloppy in the rear but you won't notice since it's your first time. They'll be easy to spin and they're free! Perfect for somebody just starting out.

Today I had the most fun I've had in a long time. This community and car scene is full of the most kind and helpful people I've ever met, I don't have any videos yet because my buddy filmed them with his camera, but as soon as I get some ill try to post them up, but here is a screen shot from today with our new friend in the fox body.
I learned slot about the car but I was getting frustrated through out the day because I was constantly under steering very heavily, I ran the fronts hot at about 30 psi with the stock wheels and tires, and my Wrx wheels with -195/50/16 kuhmo summer tires in the rear. The spares had way more grib than the stock tires and felt like the car pushed constantly when trying to feint, Im not very experienced and would clutch kick or hand brake when the car was under steering to get the rear to let go, but I had too much steering once the tail came around and couldn't throw the wheel fast enough since I was too far in the wrong direction. I spun out most of the day, but I did do a few good drifts when I could get the steering right. I need to figure this out, the next event is in a month or so. If anyone has any tips they would be much appreciated, it was drizzleing all day and the temp was around 52 at the high.
