Plus the refinement of this car is very low. Loud, missing lots of touch points and similar niceties that more upscale cars have. But what do you expect for a car that goes for $25K?

Reasons to buy the car....are you obsessed with stats, times, and numbers or obsessed with the driving feel of a car? If you are the latter, this car is worth checking out.

But installing your own mods like a turbo kit isn't something that's standard, so you can't always use the DIY pricing when determine the cost difference between two cars. Otherwise you might as well bring in more luxurious cars into the argument (ie used Cayman), since everyone always points at the ownership costs (usually dealer maintenance) as a drawback.

Is it a want or need?
For me, it was a want. Totally regretted it! Now that it's gone, I'm happy. Should had gotten what I wanted in the first place: brand new FJ Cruiser! Want: It was cool at the time. Wasn't fond of the exterior but it handled so nice. An hour later, it was at home. Plus, it didn't help that I had to pick up 4 kids. 2 cried and complained about leg cramps everyday lol. |

It's not for them it's for you, if you are fronting the cash or taking ou the loan choose a car you will enjoy or you will just regret not long after. Test drive both and see how you feel about them after. Either way you will be happy and you can't go wrong with that!

Plenty of reasons on either side of the table.
While I haven't spent much money on performance mods (about 800 on exhaust and air intake), I truly believe it's a solid platform. Every time I drive it, I've got a big grin on my face. I don't know whether something else, at the same price point as a twin plus mods would do that. Either way I think it comes to down to whatever you're happy with. I probably could have bought a used Porsche for a little more or a corvette or something else along those lines. But at the same time, why would I when I'm perfectly content with my car? I like the simplicity, I like how I'm not distracted by a million different buttons to control 6 or 7 things in my car. It takes a... Special? Person to enjoy this car for what it is and what it's meant to be. I don't know if I can even fully appreciate it. But for it being my first brand new car, the first car I've ever owned that isn't a family sedan, I couldn't be more happy with it. It does everything I need it to do. Get from point a to b and look good while doing it with having enough practicality to carry whatever I have with me. |
