After reading SVXdc's posts, I decided to go back and make sure everything was wired properly.

Here's what I did..

OJ = SWC | Blue = AMP ON

Remove the SWC pin and wire from the 6 pin connector

Cut the SWC wire so I can use the pin with the Ca-FI AMP ON wire

Use the SWC pin (now connected to the AMP ON) in the 10 pin connector

Quote:
On Subarus, you should remove (or don't use) the BLUE lead on the antenna adapter.
So I didn't do anything to my antenna lead wire.

After that, I reconnected everything and went and with the car.
Don't forget to tape up and cap off any exposed wires!

I hope this thing will get an updated ROM with Lollipop dropping now/soon.

Has anyone tried the Eonon HU's? They are like $300 on eBay.

Since the Ca-Fi never got KitKat I doubt it will see Lollipop.

I'm on the fence, part of me just wants to wait and see if we see more Android head units come out (Google supposedly has some more car-infotainment friendly options), part of me wants to just say screw it and pick it up.

You can get more info on the Eonon's here - http://www.eonon.com/Car-DVD-Players...d-Car-DVD.html

I've seen their site, I meant from a perspective of people who have tried it. Durability is a concern with a unit that cheap.

OK, what am I doing wrong? I sent my unit back to China, they said it's working fine and mailed it back. I just received it with a new wiring harness. I wired it up like SVXdc's post suggests (I'm pretty sure this is how I had it before I sent it back) and it still will only turn on the factory amp when I turn the headlights on?!?!

Here is my wiring:

Can anyone help? Thank you!

OK, to prove it isn't my car, I took this to the bench and recorded a video. With +12v on wires #2 (ACC) and #9 (+12V power) and the ground connected to wire #1 (ground). I applied +12v to the #10 (dimmer) wire and recorded the voltage on wire #11 (amp). You can see it only turns on when headlights are turned on.

Ca-Fi claims they tested this on the bench and had +12v on that wire.

I'm ready to file a claim with my credit card if they don't fix this quickly. I don't have much time left with the 60 day protection they offer. I'll still be out the $70+ it cost to send it back. They have not reimbursed me like I was told yet.

Thanks for the info...

I haven't had any issues for the last few months since i installed the HU until today. I was killing time this morning, messing around in the HU, and decided to open the SWC app... bad idea. Once I did that the HU decided it wanted to read whatever was going over that SWC wire.

Ended up just opening up the dash and cutting the wire, problem fixed. Thanks.

What I can see in your picture looks good. From your video it definitely appears that their amp turn-on output is not operating correctly.

I recommend that you look closely at CA-Fi's harness, and compare it to the pin-out sticker on the HU and to the WRX/STi pin-out table I posted. Determine whether CA-Fi built their harness correctly (aside from the idiosyncrasies I mention in my earlier posts in this Dashlinq4 thread).

[I really need to post BRZ, FR-S, & GT86 specific versions of the pin-outs on this forum]

Also, try measuring the voltage on the Dashlinq4's 'dimmer' lead (with you not connecting it to anything outside of the HU). It should always read zero volts.

Just to be thorough, I suggest that you also test the Dashlinq4's power antenna lead. Does it turn on and off at the appropriate times? Some HUs simply turn it on the entire time the HU is on (like the amp trigger output should do), rather than shutting it off when you switch out of radio (AM/FM) mode.

I've found that some Subaru HUs leave the power antenna and amp trigger outputs on whenever +12V ACC is on (even when you switch off the HU). That is the case with the oldest BRZ FA601US (and I'm guessing the later models too).

Interesting that the HU apparently wasn't sending power out the SWC lead until you opened that app.

What exactly happened in your car when you did that?

When I opened the app, it was reporting that button 1 was being pressed repeatedly. By default this was set to "volume up" and proceeded to increase the volume of my radio. Had to continually lower the volume while I tried to fix it in-app. I eventually changed the binding to "volume down" so I didn't have to mess with the knob anymore.

I don't necessarily think it wasn't sending power, just the HU wasn't doing anything with it all this time. I'm still running on an older firmware (no issues and rooted for Google Play customizations I'd like to keep).

When I turned my headlights on, it changed to button 4 (i think). I ended up changing everything to volume down and headed home to get my tools.

Anyone else having this problem? I have a 2015 frs and it has the auto headlight switch. If I have it on and the headlights are on because it's dark and I turn off the car and get out the doors won't lock nor will the headlights turn off unless I wait a minute open the door close it again then half the time it will lock if not I have to repeat. I'm not sure how the head unit could affect that but it never did it until I put this head unit in.

Is this unit good in everyone's opinion? I might ask the gf for it for Xmas. Any pros/con's would be helpful. Thanks!
