Just had mine done at work today (Lexus Dealership) and it was 3.5 hours beginning to end. Apparently he said he could do it in 1.5 hours the next time around, which I think is nuts.
He was saying that tilting the motor to remove and re-install the transmission will save a ton of time.

Thank you for the great guide. I pretty much stuck to it other than with the TRD quick shift its easier to take out and put back in with the front pipe and drive shaft out of the way.
Also with the Sprintex IC supercharger it is difficult to remove the ground, two plugs and clutch actuator from the top of the tranny but it is possible just be patient and leave your under panels off till they are all hooked back up because you may drop some things. Removing the vacuum lines on the back of the SC helps, as does disconnecting the overflow bottle from side of the SC. Thanks again |

So thanks to this DIY me and @alpine were able to tackle this job on his car this weekend. Also with some help from @Sportsguy83 and philip (still dont know his sn) and another buddy of ours. The DIY was a huge help.
First off I just wanted to add the torq specs for the flywheel and clutch cover. They're kinda hard to hunt down when your laying under a car being BBQ'ed The install went great..... Until the car wouldnt start. When installing the flywheel I wiped down the crank position plate and like a tard I didnt realize I moved it. Word of advice for noobs like myself. DO NOT F**K WITH THIS PLATE. And if you do end up messing with it take extra caution to make sure the dowel on the crank lines up with the "little hole" on the plate. Im pretty sure this is obvious info for most people out there, but is good adivce for us simple folk who didnt know. As you can imagine the whole thing had to be taken apart and redone. @alpine didnt want to drain the tranny with new fluid in it so he zip tied the drive shaft onto the tranny so it wouldnt fall out during disassembly. It added a little bit of difficulty but actually worked in the end. PS. Huge thanks to @Supermassive such an awesome DIY. It really helped alot. Last edited by marcoaferrer; 07-21-2014 at 10:56 AM. |

hey guys,.. are there some markings on the ACT Flywheel and Pressure plate?
Becuase in the Manual is written, that These markings have to be at least 120° away from each other on the original Flywheel / Clutch. I am aksing, because my flywheel and clutch are causing some stupid vibrations and noises you can hear even from outside.... I am going to take the tranny off on staturday,.. just want to get any info i can ! and thx for this DIY |

So, for everyone who has done this, do you have to take apart the centre console? or can you just pull the pin and disconnect the shifter from below like @Supermassive supposes you could? I am doing this tomorrow.
Thanks guys! (shouting out to these knowledgable fellows below) @alpine @Sportsguy83 @king_tut @NickFRS @gdrider77 @protpibe

Yeah I'm 99% sure it has to come off also. Honestly, for the size of the job, finding a way to avoid removing the shifter isn't worth the extra effort imo. Good luck with the install, and just make sure you don't over or under lube the spline shaft
