I stopped by the VW dealership today to test drive the GTI. I've wanted a GTI for years (until I found out about the BRZ), so I figured I might as well test one out just to be sure.

Unfortunately, I LOVED the GTI. The fit and finish was top notch (amazing interior), and it didn't feel at all lacking for power. I'm trying to get the VW dealership to come down on the price of a fully-equipped 4DR with a DSG transmission. If the dealer can get within 1k or so of the Limited BRZ automatic, I may very well go with the GTI. Yeah, it's FWD and a hatch, but my wife and I may be having kids in the next few years so it's the "smart" choice.

I just wish there was a BRZ close by for me to test drive. Maybe it would dissuade me from the GTI.

I've never driven M3 before, but all other 3 series since E36. They are quite "classic" performers.

I was driven in an E46 M3 with coilovers and it blew my mind. Instant response and huge, consistant power! M3's are excellent cars by all means.

If u've never driven a M3 before and drive one now. I'm pretty sure the 86 or BRZ will not impress you one bit.

If you like the e46 M3, you should give the e36. Less power, but makes up for it in crisp handling and steering feedback.
