Sitting in the cold doesn't sound like much fun either. I installed my sub during the winter and froze my balls off. That said, it was better than doing it during the summer.

Would live to be able to remap the right knob.
The other thing that bothers me is music players stop when the car is turned off. Tried to get media playing with screen on via llama but couldn't get it.
These are the main two things I'd love to change... Has anyone done this?
I emailed will about the volume memory and app partition size, he said their engineers will work on both, but in the meantime he sent me the latest update with carhome disabled and the volume defaults to level 9 (which is much better than getting blasted by level 14). I can throw it up here, but maybe we should ask if they can make the right knob programmable as well?

Hi guys,

I just got my BRZ a couple of weeks ago (!!!) and I want to swap out the stock head unit for this one. Before I place an order I want to make sure that I have everything I need. I have searched through this thread and I know I'll need an antenna adapter, USB adapter and an AUX adapter. I'm also getting an OBD2 reader. Am I forgetting anything?

I'm also getting a backup camera (Rydeen Duo). Do I need some sort of harness for the camera with this head unit like with the stock one or am I good to go?

If you could post that it would be great. I'll email them about the right volume knob. Ta.

Sounds good, Rydeen duo's a great camera, same one I have on my unit, but considering adding an extra strip of foam tape towards the rear when mounting (which tilts it up slightly more) if you want to view less of your bumper and more of what's farther behind you. Install is super easy with this HU, no need for an adapter, plug and play, somewhere on here I posted which port on the harness to tap your camera's power wire into so that it gets power whenever you shift into reverse, let me know if you can't find it and I'll try and dig it up.

As for the other adapters, yes that's all you'll need, plenty of posts about how to get them working, so just do a bit of searching, and make sure you get shipped the right usb adapter, you'll know if it fits or not. And get some needle nose pliers to pull pins/ re-pin the aux adapter (which is easy when once you look at diagrams that have been posted here).

One more thing, and this goes for just about anyone who mentioned the top part of their screen looking cut-off by the black bezel surrounding the screen. If you slide a strip of cardboard into the back of the black bezel before installing it (in between the metal and the plastic, it's tight and you gotta lift with one hand while sliding with the other or get 2 people), it lifts up the plastic that sags a bit over the screen, now you can see your notifications!

I'll have a look for those other posts about the AUX adapter wiring and about the power pin for the camera. Didn't know about the bezel problem but thanks for the advice!

Google Now Launcher available for most Android phones

The trusty Google Now launcher that debuted on the Nexus 5 had already made its way to the rest of that family and Play Edition devices. Now, folks wielding any handset running Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) and later can grab the feature, even if it's absent one of the aforementioned monikers.

Did you try this and get it working? I did, but had no luck. FWIW, I haven't run across any third party launcher that works. Seems that CarHome must not be a true Android launcher like most, or the Home button is hard coded to launch CarHome.

nova works, but there is no way to set it as the default. at least not from what i've found, but i'm still on the older version.

Update: my referring woes may be over. It seems voice over LTE has cause problems with tethering for T-Mobile customers in certain areas. I disable it and now working in my tablet. Well test head unit tomorrow
