So I know that some members are running with FI, are any of the experienced drivers leading with FI? Be it with Turbo or Supercharger?

What kinda of tires are leaders running stock, wider, stretched, sticky, or cheap stuff?

There was a group that preferred not to run very fast last time so do we have a group for them with a leader in a stock car not pushing hard? Wanna make sure we have groups for all drivers and information that could make the decision easier for some.

Given this information I could select the person I would want to follow.
Running 255/40/17 RS3's for AutoX and header/exhaust with tune so stock cars I would rather not follow.

Ok, I'm in. I'm coming from Spring, just North of Houston. I'll probably head that way either Thursday evening or Friday morning. I have a stock setup with sticky tires. I'll go with what ever group is available although I haven't done this run before. I have no problem with fast and fun, but my car won't keep up with FI. Who knows, maybe I'll get a chance to do this run Friday.

@Extreme86 I'm lowered about an inch but pretty much stock for everything else. By reading your descriptions I think I would like to be in group 2 or 3. Thanks!

I'm stock everything, but like to drive fast. Sooo... feel free to put me where you wish as well. Maybe take into consideration that I'll be handing out t-shirts before and after the run?

I don't know the route but I'm a supercharged track junkie. I can probably run at my 2/3rds pace without major issues. If anything I can do a lead for part of the Houston86 guys. I'm loaded with sticky summer tires and all that fun stuff too

I can talk to the Houston guys and see what I can pull up.

I don't mind which group I go in, I've only ever gone out to the Twisted Sisters I believe over ten years ago on a thing with SASCA. Way to long to remember much about it. My FR-S is NA with 225/45 summer Bridgestones and I'd like to think I have some skills as a driver, but don't we all? My bro-in-law is planning to bring his AE86 with a pretty much stock engine, and we are hoping to go in the same group and want to have some excitement for sure.

I am not running FI, merely TRD I&E, Hankook RS3's in stock size, camber bolts up front maxed out to the negative side to help with turn-in, and otherwise stock suspension. I haven't been out in the hills a lot this year because I've spent most of my free time at Harris Hill driving the track...

I've posted a few videos from previous runs out there, one of which can be seen here. [ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GFm6jZ8FJYk"]Three Sisters Run 337 Eastbound Apr 27 2013 - YouTube[/ame]

although keep in mind all the ones posted are running stock tires....I have run it with BFG Rivals which was a bit quicker and more like I will be running this time. John mentioned my "aggressive" driving style, keep in mind my aggression is focused on the twisties, I usually run the speed limit, or slower if I know there is traffic ahead, in the areas between the curves. The reason for this is to ensure that we get uninterrupted driving through the twisties. Unfortunately it is not always possible to avoid traffic but I've found this works best. With that said, there are a few areas I know of where there are very few ranches, side roads etc so I will some times step it out a bit. I also run a radar detector which has saved my butt a few times....

Safety cannot be stressed enough, there will be other people out driving the sisters, most of which will be taking their time enjoying the scenery, which I hear is very nice but only get to see it in the videos... I think the most important thing to remember is to keep to your own lane, bikes tend to come around those blind corners hugging the centerline so if you're riding the line, you will hit them. It may be their fault but it's just not worth the nightmare....

If you value your paint job, do not follow too close, especially on the resurfaced areas of the 336 and 335. You'll know these areas when you see them, if not, you'll hear the gravel.... I'm sure these areas have gotten a lot better than they were last winter but we'll have to see. Grip in these areas is also very questionable so back it off a bit, its not worth the consequences.

I would like to get on the road as soon a possible, earlier the better as there will be less traffic to worry about so if you want to run in group 1 try to be there as early as possible....

Looking forward to seeing everyone out there, I may have to go out there this week to knock the rust off....Drive safe and

Thanks for chiming in, Tim.

Hey, I understand Shneegle's concern in having a S/C and Turbo or Tuned group. That's gonna be out of our department other than we can designate that as "Group 4" and them fellers can figure out who wants to take the lead. But, for anyone's first time out there...I wouldn't advise pushing the envelope too much.

There are blind corners, turns, even blind hills if you can imagine that! Having more power only means you are going to use more of your brakes to slow for the turns. Pretty sure most ppl in this category would have the required skills, etc. I'm just thinking of several spots that are pretty squirrelly I guess.

Look folks, the #1 "rule" or priority so to speak for our SATX86 sisters runs has been and always will be to be SAFE. We simply need to respect other people out there on the road. We stay in our lane always and slow down when there is oncoming traffic. Rule #2 - stupid sh** ain't allowed, period. Everyone should always err on the side of safe judgment...it's not worth it otherwise. If we see that there are bicycle groups out there it will change the whole dynamics of the run as the lead car has to anticipate immediate split second breaking to shut er down. In my own experience leading a group one time, I came around a blind curve and a motorcycle was stopped in the middle of the road cause the dude was taking a picture of the scenery. Everyone behind me had to stop as well!!! Scary stuff.

For sure, we will hit the twisties in an aggressive manner "stock" or otherwise but, this is simply not a speed competition to beat any clock. Let's save that type of driving for the track, autox or the drag strip. Dittos to everything Tim mentioned. Yeah, some spots we are gonna step it out ... others we might drive below the speed limit to ensure we have a lot of room out in front of us so we don't run up behind a slow group of motorcycles or something when we get near some twists.

If it sounds like Tim and I are preaching to ya'll....we are. Once, we had our radar detectors go off on a twistie and around the bend there were emergency vehicles in the roadway because a motorcyclist wiped out and hit a guardrail. Had we not had early detector warning ... I don't even want to imagine. My step bro in law that lives in Leakey has told me of many incidents of accidents out there on the ranch roads. He always warns me about rocks on the roads. There are a lot of cliffs where rocks either fall naturally or sometimes animals knock them off. The ones that we've seen are small enough to dodge...just be aware.

I've got one volunteer for an additional team leader but, this person has never driven the sisters before so, holding off at the moment to see if anyone else with some nads comes forward. How about we start associating names with groups this weekend? In a few more days we'll get this group thing figured out. I'd be more comfortable having a lead driver with some experience but, certainly do admire the courage displayed. Where the heck is everyone that has been out there with us on runs in the past????

Tim...if you want to go out there Saturday AM, let me know!!!

If anyone is interested, we are having an autocross the day after this drive in northern San Antonio directly bordering I-35. If you really want to drive in "race mode", I would suggest this over using public roads.

There's typically 5 to 8 twins at an event. If you need the info, check out this link.
