JDM Sidemarker A-Clip Issues

I'm having troubles with fitting my JDM sidemarkers back into their slots. They clip a little, but it's still pretty easy to pull them out; I don't think they are snapping in the right way.

I've tried just using brute force, but it doesn't seem to be helping, and I don't want to break the clips trying.
Does anyone have experience with this? And how did you solve this issue?!

Make sure the clip is facing the right way.

The problem is when you push the side marker to snap into the metal tab, the tab gets pushed back as well.

I got a pair of vice grips and a towel to squeeze them together. The towel protects your side marker from getting scratched. Make sure the vice grip is flat against the sidemarker so when you squeeze the pressure is spread out. If you put too much pressure using only the tip of your vice grip then the side marker can break. Once you hear a loud click you know it's snapped tight.

Lay on your back and look at it from the bottom. You will be able to see the backside of the clip. Reach a thin screw driver back there and pull it in rather than push it from the front.

Have you ever had your shit pushed in? Sorry couldnt resist.
