I do it for insurance reasons.

A lot of the pics I post are of me doing "spirited driving", usually at a track but still not something I necessarily want my insurance company see/use against me.

This is very true! Another thing I noticed is the context in which people read what you type makes them seem like assholes when they are not and might result in a flame war online. For example, you have no idea who I am or how I talk in person so....IF I WERE TO TYPE LIKE THIS YOU READ IT LIKE IM A LOUD JERK. It's all about perspective!

I don't worry about blurring my license plate in pictures because it's public information. I can't blur my license plate in a parking lot; people are free to take pictures of it or have security camera footage of it and there's nothing I can do about it. I'm sure people can find my address if they look it up on the internet, but such is life. On the other hand, I take care to keep as much identifiable information off the internet as is feasible.

Except for my username. That's the same on most of my forums.
