No intention to hi-jack.. Just got curious halfway through reading the thread lol. Would 18x11.5 be way too wide for rear?

I know I want RPF1's in SBC. I know I want a 245 or 255 tire.

I know my size options are 17x9 +35 or 18x9.5 +38.

I know I want a square setup.

This is a 90% daily driver with a few weekends a year doing some recreational AutoX and maybe one track weekend a year.

I love the feel of the car and I want to keep that unchanged as much as possible. Leaning more towards the 17x9 +35 with a 245/40/17. 18's do look realllllly good though. But a 18x9.5 with a 245 tire will be a little stretchy for my taste so can I fit 255's without issues on the stock struts? And secondly do I want 255's? Will it ruin the feeling of the car? Will it make my lightly modded (Perrin pulley and TRD catback and eventually Intake and a tune) car feel like a dog?

@Jive Turkey please with your infinite wisdom, guide my way
definitely go the 17x9 route, it will give you the aggressive look you want but still have a relatively peppy feeling car.

with my wheel and tire setup, it doesn't feel as peppy in the lower gears, but i know that and i'm okay with that, on a road course yore never in lower gears anyways.

the only issue you will have, or might has is strut clearance, but it doesn't seem that you're running that aggressive of a tire, so i think you'll be okay, if anything you can throw on a 3mm spacer for clearance, or get top hats that would lean the strut away from the wheel so you can possibly dial in some camber however besides the whiteline com-c i don't know what other top hats work with the stock struts?

maybe someone else who has gone the springs/meaty route can chime in, i know a few people in this thread have that exact wheel setup and love it. just pm some members!

...what suspension, what tire, what offset, what fender modifications.

with that said, unless you're making 400+whp a 9.5" wheel will be plenty in terms of meaty tire size/grip.

if you go by that logic on an 11.5" wheel you need a 295-315 depending on tire brand, and thats WAY too much tire to even have any fun in this platform NA, however if you're going for looks and just to say that you have an 11.5" in the rear it CAN be done for sure, all depends on offset and how much work you want to do to fit it, with camber anything is possible...not functional, but possible.

I'd mainly do it for looks, but I don't want to sacrifice much performance. I'd do a 35mm offset, or near there. No fender modifications for now. I'm still learning about these things, so all I know about the suspension is that I'd like adjustable height coilovers, with about an inch or 1.5" drop.

Thanks dude! I've been leaning towards the 17x9 but 18's look soooo good. It is a good +8-10lbs per wheel/tire assembly going 18's though and I can see that adding up. So should I run a 245 or 255 tire? Also should I be looking at +35 or +45 with 5mm spacers? I have SPC arms in the rear so I can camber them in a little bit but I don't want to wipe the tires out with -3*...I'd like to keep the camber under -2*
