Man this makes it hard to decide between the GTX2867r and the 3076r... Do you think the car would benefit with the GTX28 at around 12-15psi on e85 over the 3076r? Obviously the 3076r manhandles the GTX28 in the 20+ category. But for the more moderate builds in the 280whp-400whp on corn, which would you say would be proficient?

If you're hitting full boost at 4200rpm with 12-15psi on the 3076r, is it safe to say with the GTX2867r would be around 3800-4000rpm?

The tuner, @jamesm is moving up from 2867 to 3076r... That says it all right there...

Also, you could spool a bit faster than me with a .63 backhousing instead of .82 like I chose.

The 3076 still beats the 2867 in lower boost levels, its just blows it ridiculously out of the water after 15 psi.

This

I can confirm that my gtx3076 (91 octane )beat almost any turbo out there on @DeliciousTuning dyno by a decent margin

The 3076r seems to be the best balance of area under the curve and sheer power potential that I've seen thus far. I've tuned all the gtx's, borg warner, precision etc. it just the best all around. That doesn't mean that it's the best for every application, though.

GTX3076r it is! Thanks guys.

@jamesm Hope to see you at HRI tuning in the summer! Might make my decision between tuners even more difficult

I've spent with James since day one of customer tuning and read this please very closely and completely honest... There is no best tuner out there. The dedication to make something as close to perfect as possible and the commitment to listen to customers requests and make them happen..... Its just light years ahead of anyone else.

For real. I was there for 7 hour drivability sessions, I've seen those day long sessions happen with other customers and he keeps going and going on duracell's.

Going with him was a leap of faith for me, because basically at that point he had tuned his car and thats it..... It is absolutely unequivocally the BEST choice I could make, hands down, bar none....

You'll always be my first lol. Seriously though I've done probably 50-60 86's at this point, maybe more if you count all the free ones in the beginning, and I wouldn't have been able to refine the process to the degree that I have without David's help. It's been a very constructive, mutually beneficial type of thing.

<----- blushing...

LMAO...

Seriously, I've learned a lot throughout the process and the proof is in the pudding!!! The results speak for themselves. There were no glory runs here either. Max power runs where done back to back to back to back 4th run (running 1-4 maps consecutively). Modest AFR's. Dial everything down a notch to keep it safe... Everything is in there...

How similar do you think its performance would be on an AP2 S2000?

No idea... i've never tuned an S2000. I would imagine it would be pretty similar given the compression, displacement, ve etc being somewhat similar but I can't say for sure.

That is what I was thinking. The S2000 crowd seems to have gravitated towards the larger frame turbos similar to what the BRZ/FR-S crowd seems to be doing now. My main concern is the difference in the cam profiles between non VTEC and VTEC and how that will effect spooling times in the lower RPM range.

I wonder if a low boost large frame is more manageable traction-wise than those small mid-frame turbos like the GT28.

The only time I had traction issues with my GT28 was when the 265 ft/lbs would hit when the turbo made target boost, but that was only in 1st and 2nd with the 265 width MPSS. I think it was the perfect amount traction-wise.
