Wow. That's pretty crazy taxation. I'd quit drinking...

Just tried some Laphroaig last night, love the peat!
Man, I think I'm going to go to Bevmo today and buy a ton of 50mL bottles to do some sampling. Oh, I hate Maker's Mark. It's my friend's favorite and he was raving about it for a while, then I tried it and kind of had to force it down like Skyy lol. Last edited by serialk11r; 05-03-2014 at 10:46 AM. |

I can vouch for that. Been drinking it since it was re-introduced here in Iowa a few years ago. It was pretty hard to come by for a while there when it became popular. More readily available now though.
Great stuff. Great story! Sent from my XT1060 using Tapatalk |

Okay, the Bevmo store's 50mL selection was not as good as it was online, but I did buy a 12 year Glenlivet, 12 year Glenfiddich, and a 12 year Dewar's, looking forward to sipping these with a buddy tomorrow

Been sipping on these recently.
Talisker 10 - oh so good. A must try for anyone. Knob Creek - probably my favorite sipping bourbon. I personally prefer it over Bulliet and the price is similar.

Got a glass of Lagavulin at a restaurant today...I think it's better than Laphroaig, but the price tag is a bit unfortunate :/ Need to find some Ardbeg to try.

I've still yet to go full Islay, it scares me a bit lol.
Then again I've heard that once you try it you're hooked for life.

I do love Lagavulin though... Still need to try their 12 year! Ardbeg is good, but personally do prefer Laphroaig and Lagavulin. If you have a chance, try Octomore too |

Laphroaig 18 is expensive! Well, not worse than Lagavulin but the 10 is so common that most places only carry that. I want to try their quarter cask, which supposedly tastes a little bit more mature than the 10, but hard to find a store that carries it.

I decided to sample what America has to offer in the way of malt whiskeys, and this is my first acquisition. The marketing compares it to Islay malts, but there's a big difference between a peaty malt and their 'triple smoke of beech, cherry and peat.' Its not the most complex I've tasted, but it has a decent body, I can taste a bit of the cherry, and it has a nice long, pleasant finish.
