I took my BRZ out of hybernation today. I did an oil change last night and brought the car to work today. Man those brakes were making some terrible sounds.. but a few more good stops and I think all the surface rust and corrosion will come off.
It sure is different to be sitting on the ground again and have so little body roll. After driving a full size truck all winter, the BRZ is quite a difference. I'm hoping for nice weather this Sat so I can give it a good wash/wax and all over cleaning. yeah for spring! |

I don't know anything about these tires, but let me know what you end up going with, or if anyone else has said something to you. I am not too happy with the tires I have now, and want to replace them for the same reasons, plus I need to purchase another set of rims for winter tires too. |

I've always ran Potenzas as dd tires with a little track time here and there, and loved them.

I'd say it really just depends on how much autox performance you want vs street driving. However, with any performance tire you're gonna want to just drive more carefully and watchout for standing water. |

So a tire like a BFG KDW might be .5 - 2 seconds faster through a MONSOON around a road course than a Dunlop ZII, but it's going to be 1.5 seconds slower on a standard autocross course in the dry. If you're buying tires to be successful in autocross, you buy the Dunlop ZII's (or BFG Rivals, or Hankook RS3's, or the new bad-bitch Yokohama's...etc etc) If you're buying tires for safety....well then you buy more OEM prius tires and stay home when Sunday raceday comes along. Don't comprimise on tires....ever. Bottom line is, when you hear all these people saying stuff like. "These Autocross tires are great in the dry, but terrible in the wet!" Well these people are just pussified, and can't drive. If I can drive bald BFG Rivals at 75 MPH on the freeway with no stability control, your full depth Dunlop ZII's will be just fine. There's nothing to worry about. |

Thanks for all the input on tires. I've narrowed it down to either the ZII's or Dunlops new DZ102. I like the DZ102 because it should last longer and is about $150-$200 cheaper for a set of 4. My plan is to several AutoX's this summer and maybe a track day. Other than that, I'll just be dairying the car until it comes time for winter tires.
A friend also pointed out that my skill level likely isn't enough to make use of the extra grip the ZII's will provide vs something like the DZ102. I've only done 4 AutoX's before and no track days. I appreciate all input, even the name calling. :P |

I got my car back today! As much as I worry about the car, within a mile, that's all forgotten and I remember why I bought this car.
Also, spotted @ramiel at 8mile and Grand River this morning. Is he still active here? |

There's a new ultramarine in midland...guy works over by Waldo and James savage road. I waved once but he didn't wave back, so not sure if he's here or not (or maybe he didn't see me or is just an ass LOL)
