I use my rf-1100 for the bike. Though will eventually be changing it, I've swapped my seat to something lower for headroom, it does not have a movable headrest like the oem seat and the spoiler lip at the base of the helmet in the rear bumps that area.

I also use a Shoei RF 1100 that usually sees duty when I'm out riding. Really comfortable on the bike or in the car.

I have an Arai Corsair-V Aoyama. Also transitioned from a motorcycle which explains the helmet choice. I've used the Shoei Qwest once in the car and it was pretty hot in comparison.
The helmet @ayau recommended for the money is tough to beat for the features vs cost but you'll still pay more since it's got a lot of specifics for auto racing.

Had an HJC CS-R2 for a really long time for gokarting and AutoX/RallyX (since SF SCCA allows motorcycle helmets).
Decided to finally take the plunge for my first track day and got the Bell Sport Mag (open face) which was very comfortable and perfect for visibility. Recently tried out shifter karts, so I needed to upgrade yet again with a closed faced helmet. Tried a few other brands, but in the end, Bell was the one that fit my giant noggin the best, so I ended up getting the Bell Sport. Plenty for ventilation for those hot days (need to be moving of course) and lots of accessories like tinted visors and mounting holes for HANS device, etc. Its really more about what fits and what is comfortable for you: not too loose that it will fly off the moment you need it or not too tight that it gives you a head ache. Price usually just gives you light weight and more features. |

HJC SI-12
One of the lightest helmets available for under $1000 and it's SNELL 2010. It's hard to find a comparable helmet without spending several hundred dollars more. Closest option is the Arai (which make outstanding helmets too).

If you don't have a local shop, these guys helped me get the correct size for my head with a discussion over the phone. I'm glad they knew their stuff, because I would have ordered a size too large: O.G. Racing HJC SI-12R

White Simpson Bandit, with the mirrored visor. Exactly like the Stig wears. Yes, it's expensive, but it is comfortable and SA2010. Plus it's a good choice for something like a formula car, which I'd like to do some day.
