Seeing as he has all the components in question and that is the thread for the new variable, it seemed the logical location to ask the question.

Had no idea of these before you mentioned them. Looks promising.

Im sure @shiv@vishnu will test them with ESC, no reason not to as the compressor can be added and removed with ease

Im very interested in the results.

Hopefully he can get them tested before the group buy ends.

Edit... Just read the thread. Sounds interesting. Here I thought I was going to be done after the header. Now I need to raise an extra 300 bucks.

------Aussie update------

Work has begun!

I have shipped out a mock up kit to @Gums.

He has offered to solder/modify/fab WOT bracket etc... for RHD applications.

Also, compressor housing blanks have finally arrived.

Rob.

Sounds like progress is being made, more kits available soon (for USA)?

Also a question, would there be any benefit to running a higher spec alternator? The dual dump config sounds like it makes the most of the 250 system but relocating a battery is not high on my list. If recharging could occur faster with a higher output alternator I would prefer that.

Thanks

If Shiv shows any note worthy gains I will add to my setup ASAP.

It would be nice to compare how much a bigger alternator would increase parasitic drag and power loss

What do you guys think about this.
You take a turbocharger and divide it into it's two parts, the compressor and the turbine.
You connect the turbine to the exhaust manifold and connect the compressor to the intake manifold.
Get two super high speed brushless motors.
Attach the motors to the compressor and turbine.
Wire the motors together.
Hope that the motor on the turbine works as a generator.

This would eliminate all the pesky tubing between the turbo and the intake manifold.

Do you think this might work? I have a big old turbo laying around doing nothing.

I think the turbine motor would melt.

If it didn't melt, it would have the most turbo lag ever

I think thermoelectrics are a better route to pursue than a turbine driven generator, except, like batteries, the efficiency isn't there yet. Some day we'll see an oem setup using regenerative braking, exhaust energy recapture. full time boost available, but that kind of integration would be beyond an aftermarket kit. We could definitely integrate motor control into the ecu programming now, but are still limited by storage and recharging. Rob has hit the nail on the head with the goals and limitations of this system. I almost want to keep my brz just to play with the ESC, or even buy one to adapt to my truck.

As far as eliminating turbo tubing...higher boost will still need intercooling and the tubing that comes with that. Maybe what you want is a setup similar to the fa20dit, very minimal tubing.

It looks like we are moving towards a kers oem setup. Volvo is testing it out right now. On a side note... The Perrin op / front pipe are awesome and installed.

I have to go to stock mode today. Taking in my car tomorrow for my last free oil change, to replace the fuel pump (no more crickets) and seal up my cam plate that is leaking under load. Should be interesting to drive the car stock again.
