The a stands for auto cross so I imagine it doesn't like getting hot. I have the regular re11 on my team car and they were getting pretty greasy toward the end of the 20 minute sessions. That's on a 130~hp miata in 60* temps

I had the same experience with the original RE-11's on my Cayman S. Greasy after about 20 minutes, and was hoping the new tire would do better. I might try the NT01 in 215 or try the R888 in 245 since the car is already set up and balanced for that cross-section. I'll probably run my backup set MPSS 215's on the stock rims until I decide.

You guys are making me nervous. With r3's getting hard to find a lot of people seem to be looking at zII's. I say go with the r1rs Rivals and Nittos since zII's are my tire of choice and I don't want a run on them before I am ready to buy.

Does anyone know when the Hankook RS4s are set to debut since the RS3s are phasing out? I am in need of a set of RS3/Z2/RE11As in the near future and would like to hear a comparison before purchasing.

Great learning tire, but it's a tick slower than the Z2, which is a tick slower than the RS3.

Slightly less, maybe -0.3 less or so.

This is from Chris Harvey who works at Tirerack.

We (Tire Rack) will identify the tire as R-S3 Version 2. Since the sidewall and tire label will not change, the key identifier will be the four digit build date on the sidewall of the tire. Any R-S3's produced in 2014 (XX14) are Version 2 tires with the enhanced compound.

Production is under way now and we expect a wide range of sizes to arrive via container shipments in April. Hankook is fully aware of the SCCA Solo requirements and we expect them to make the April 30th cut-off barring some unforeseen issue. The tires can be ordered currently by contacting us via phone and requesting the Version 2 or online after they appear later this week.

For those that autox'ed on Z2's last season, how did they hold up with co-drivers? It sounds like they don't like heat. But with the RS3 v2 not coming out till end of April and the Wilmington match tour April 12th, it looks like I'm stuck with either the Rival (which I don't really like the squishy feeling) or the Z2's.

I personally prefer the Yokohama AD08.

It was an amazing tire and lasted forever on my heavy bimmer. I just got a set for the FRS, but the fresher version is called AD08R. Not sure what size you're looking for but I paid around $168/tire at the rack for 225/45/17. Will make an awesome track tire. According to their test, it's grippier than just about anything else out there in the category.
