Any GOOD wheels similar to 17x9 rota titans?

I was thinking about buying some rota titans for my fr-s but I have read up some really bad reviews about their poor quality and such. And I don't want to take ANY chances whatsoever.

I personally have Rota Grids and have not had any issues. Several members in my car club has Rota RT5's and they haven't had any issues either. You will always find someone with negative comments about anything other than Volks, Works etc... I would love a set of TE37's but I refuse to pay that kind of money for my daily driver. I would say that if you like the Rota's than buy them.

They're knockoffs of THIS wheel. And this wheel is extremely lightweight.

ANY wheel can and will break, given the right conditions... It doesn't matter what brand it is. More often than not, someone with a broken wheel will withhold information and just blame the "failure" on the brand. What is important is to look at the conditions which caused the wheel to break - HOW and WHY. So many people do not disclose that information for one reason: they are at fault.

Just last night, I saw a post on facebook which read "Buy rotas, they said..." It was a picture of a 240 with a wheel broken in half and off the car. What the owner did not disclose (which was blatantly obvious in the picture, given the turn, the angle of the car, and the skid marks) was that he was trying to drift, messed up, and slammed into a curb. Hitting a curb at a decent speed will damage ANY wheel, with a good chance to break it.

I also heard another story of someone tracking his car on rotas. The wheel broke. " Fuck rotas." No.... how about don't go off track and slam into something? That will save your wheel from failure.

As long as you don't slam into anything, the wheel will be fine.

I have no issues with Rotas. IIRC, they are/have been a wheel manufacturer for many OEMs. Either way, not everyone can afford a $2000-3000 set of original aftermarket wheels, and then another $600-1000 for a set of tires. As Propaganda stated above, any wheel can break given the necessary circumstances whether it's light, heavy, forged, cast, expensive, cheap, OEM, aftermarket, original or knockoff.

I do take some small issue with the "design theft" of kockoffs, but not enough to make me militant on the internet about it. Wheel snobbery is kinda petty, it's akin to the snobbery some women treat each other with when comparing clothing or shoes. I think it's F'n sweet to have authentic Advan RGII's, but I'm not gonna hate on someone for buying a set that look identical but weigh a pound or two more for a fraction of the price.

For what it's worth, my next set of wheels for my BRZ will most likely be Rotas, unless I get a silly deal elsewhere.

i have RT5's with not a single issue with them. rotas did have a reputation of bad quality back in the 90's and early 2000's but they have fixed all those issues and in fact their wheels are now VIA and JWL certified and to me that says a lot about their quality. around where i live you will see lots of people running rotas and on autoX and track events. if you have the $$$ to afford the real deal by all means go for it but if not Rotas are a very good alternative.
