The guy that cuts my hair told me just the other week that he finds X-Ice not particularly good with lighter weight cars, that he gets more bite on the ground using them on his SUV. Once he changed to WS-70 on his Yaris he said the car is more sure footed in the snow.

Interesting, might switch when these x-ices wear out. That is certainly consistent with what i've been experiencing.

There's a trade off with the WS70's though in dry driving. The soft sidewalls flex a lot and highway driving can be a little unsettling. Still loving them though, especially days like yesterday and today. Didn't get stuck once.

I also picked the worst choice ever for tires too - WS70

Tricky to drive in winter. If you haven't discovered this yet then you're driving too slowly.

I expect my cars to handle snow on snow tires basically in the same way as dry roads on summer tires. Of all the cars I've driven only the BRZ is incapable of this without a high level of concentration and skill applied.

It is frankly ridiculously unbalanced.

The Blizzak WS is an ice tire. It works on ice. It is not very good on snow. It is terrible on bare roads.

Your opinion of Blizzak depends on what you expect from a snow tire.

I won't fit them because I can drive ok on ice and like to drive fast on snow or on bare winter roads. Blizzaks can't do that.

For snow or bare road winter driving, yes you did. If you follow a Zamboni to work then your WS 70 will feel great.

Anyone tried a set of Dunlop Wintersport 3D or Michelin Pilot Alpin PA3 with the BRZ? I mostly roam around the GTA and I will never buy another set of deep snow tires ever again for a sports car (so annoying when the handling sucks on winter dry roads for almost half the year).

Seriously nothing can be more tricky than growing up learning how to drive in all kinds of snow conditions with all season tires (didn't have money) and no computer aid (wasn't available yet).

I don't need to, I have other more competent winter cars.

As a daily driver I would find this car too frustrating.

It should be easy to fix if its just roll stiffness, but if its the Torsen that's set up too tight then only an expensive diff swap can fix this car.
