Rod bearing, motor over revved, missed going from 1st into 2nd during a (cough) spirited Saturday night street challenge (cough) , went back into 2nd rpms way too high (above 8000, probably close to 9000). Didn't know it happened until the challenge was over (I won). Then I started hearing a metal on metal noise, knock, knock and I don't mean like the "whos there" kind.

Will hit 7K on my Innovate SC in the next day or so. No issues yet. Lots of AutoX days on the kit and I'm off to St George UT for an AutoX event this weekend with a car fully loaded with all my race gear.

I am a little ignorant to FI, but I am beginning to understand it better and better. Listen to Crawford describe the FA20 motor vs. an STi engine. He literally says it creates more power and is stronger than the EJ motor. So in theory, if you get the car to about 250 whp, I would say you would be pretty darn safe as long as you have an inter cooler and seamless install.
"The same turbo we put on this engine (fa20), on an STI we can make something like 360 horsepower, on this motor (fa20) it made 430." Well check this out: [ame]http://youtu.be/oLP-HCcX9as?t=3m17s[/ame] |

Tune plays a big part. I'm at 470hp@wheels as my daily dd. I don't baby it, been running e85 @16psi. I have well over 8k on the turbo. And I change my oil every 10k. But if its time for the motor to go just have to deal with it. I would not build a motor unless you plan on making 500 plus hp.

Not that I'm a fan of ebay turbos, but we ran one on a stock block 1j with a ebay manifold and managed to run crazy cars. It was fun while it lasted |
