I was looking at a WRX, and remember that rumor that the new one will have a Coupe Variant. But looking at the gas milage on them... and I did have an STI for a couple of weeks back in 07...yeah it's not worth it. Espicially if you commute everyday. Other then that I love em !

BRZ on the other hand, I just don't know. "Burz" just sounds weird.
I'm just gonna call it the Zenith, since that's what the Z stands for and it's actually a real name rather than yet another boring acronym.

+1 Would be awesome if "Zenith" badges were made so we can replace BRZ badge on the trunk lol

Regarding insurance: probably won't be that bad - it still (techncally) seats 4, is NA, and isn't a high-performance vehicle in terms of speed. So unless a lot of kids wreck their FR-S/BRZ, driving the insurance costs up, I would say insurance should be similar to that of the RSX, or maybe even a Civic Si Coupe.

Find the old 90's or earlier TV from that company Rip it off and stick it to your BRZ... then you'll have you Zenith badge.

I got quoted $1,700/year for an 11' WRX which is wayyy too much imo. Hell 3 years ago I was paying $1,300/year for an 05' S2000. Plus like others have said, gas mileage is horrendous on wrx's.

I had a 06 wrx and I sold it for a brand new 370Z with sports package
because I wanted a "more mature" image, I totally regret it.
I hate high reving/torqueless engines.I don't care if a car is fast but feels slow like the 370z, the wrx was slower but felt way faster and thats all i care about.

To me if this car costs the same as the WRX i will buy a WRX I'm afraid this car will be the same as the 370z, but slower so i don't think this car is for me. Looks are highly important to me when it comes to cars and this car is really good looking but very inconvenient, it's a 2 seater
(noone fits in the rear) so this car to me would be a great second car.

I'll test drive it and make up my mind.

Wait let me get this straight...
You just called a 3.7L V6 with the flattest torque curve you can possibly ask for torqueless...

2013 model year is the debut of the new wrx and Sti. So that's this coming fall.

The new ones are going to get better gas mileage just not as good as the BRZ/FR-S....yeah I hope there is a coupe version of the wrx/Sti! There are no relatively cheap awd coupes...

Was it ever confirmed? I thought what was semi-confirmed is that WRX is getting 2.0 DI engine, that's all.
Personally I'm waiting for new STI. Current one just way too old.

Will they be their own platform? I hadn't heard about that. I'm rather upset that the new Impreza is based on a shortened Legacy platform. I grabbed the last 2007 WRX around because I felt the '08 was too bulky. Are they going to stop using the Impreza as a base and make the WRX/STI smaller?

I heard they are making WRX/STI 2 doors, so it should be lighter. 300hp+ turbocharged FA20 is confirmed.

Glad there will be no more such thread in future. The choice will be obvious.

BRZ = NA, RWD, 2+2 Seats 2 Door Coupé
WRX = FI, AWD, 4 Seats, 3 Door Coupé

right on cue, Motor Trend article about the next WRX

http://www.motortrend.com/features/a...hat_to_expect/

Quote:
After its recently revealed "Motion V" program was announced late last year, Subaru bosses arranged a special briefing for potential investors. At that meeting, senior staffers laid out a road map of what models and new technologies would be unveiled up to 2015.

It started with the all-new Impreza of last year, the BRZ and Forester which will go on sale this year, the Exiga minivan in 2013, the all-new WRX (which will diverge from the Impreza platform) and a brand new sport wagon for 2014, and the all-new Legacy in 2015.

Stage 1 (completed) -
Direct injection 2.0-liter four-cylinder boxer incorporating Toyota's DS-4 technology for the BRZ
Stage 2 - Direct injection turbocharged variant of the FA20 2.0-liter
Stage 3 - High-powered four-cylinder turbo boxer for the next generation WRX. While the final engine capacity has not been decided yet, the consensus inside Subaru is leaning towards downsizing and tweaking the BRZ's FA20 2.0-liter unit into a 1.6-liter turbo featuring new lean-burn technology.

This is where the story gets interesting. We hear the turbo destined for production later this year and the one being developed for the WRX are two different beasts. That is to say that the WRX, which is expected to return in three-door hatchback and sedan forms (check out our CG image to see how one artist visualizes the hatch), is rumored to employ a turbo with some form of electric device. This has been a while coming as Subaru took out a patent on an electrically-operated turbo back in 2007.
