Another thing to consider dude....it's a BRZ. It falls under the same category of S-2000s in terms of buying used.

9 out 10 have been abused, or modded, or driven by first time drivers (specially manual trans).

Trying to find the "cheapest" used FR-S/BRZ might not be the best idea.

I've been looking for an unmolested 240sx for 2 months now, I finally found one...if you want to find it, you gotta spend a lot of time looking and know what to look for. 17K is not going to happen right now, unless something bad has happened to it

True, but the devil is in the details in that link:

THE CAR WAS IN A NEW CAR DEALERS INVENTORY WHEN THE DEALERS LOT WAS FLOOED FROM A BIG RAIN STORM . IT IS NORMAL FOR THE DEALERS INS CO TO WIPE THE ENTIRE INVENTORY EVEN IF NOT ALL THE CARS WERE AFFECTED . IN THIS CASE THIS FRS WAS NOT DAMAGED AT ALL THERE ARE NO SIGNS OF ANY WATER OR ANY PRIOR DAMAGE . THE CAR DOES NOT HAVE A SALVAGE TITLE JUST A WATER DAMAGE BRAND THAT MEANS IT WAS NOT A TOTAL LOSS. THE INS JUST COVERS THEMSELVES BY DOING THIS . AGAIN THE CAR IS PERFECT WITH ABSOLUTLY NO ISSUES AND IT CAN BE FINANCED BY MOST BANKS OR CREDIT UNIONS ,

they're out there. the boston craigslist has a whiteout going for $17,500 I think. he's been trying to sell it for quite a while. it seems like it might have been abused/raced though. although I'm not sure

I bet the car has a salvaged title. Otherwise he could get more from a dealer trade.

That's possible. There's also one for 21k, and another for 22k. $17,500 is low, but these cars aren't keeping their value like people thought it seems. Although this might be because summer is virtually over and it's not easy selling a sports car in the winter.

I bought a '93 240sx with 91k miles on it that was owned by an older gentleman and his wife 2 years ago. I think I can find a twin that's in good shape in a year or two.

Definitely didn't mean right now anyway. I plan on buying with cash, and I don't have the cash. Ideally it'll be sooner rather than later, but I don't need one, so I'll just wait until it's the price I'm willing to pay or save more money.

Yeah man, but lets face it, those are a very dime of a trillion.

It's not like Corvettes, Porsches, M3s, which you can count on finding a good bunch that were bought by older folks that had them garaged and used occasionally. Or even drove as DD, but mildly from house-to-office and nothing else.

It's a different market for entry level japanese sports cars. Those situations are REALLY hard to find.

My 2013 FR-S 6MT with 430 miles got appraised at 21k...

These cars will depreciate quick because of all the reliability issues...at least the 2013 models. If it decreases by 5k in 10 months I think we'll be seeing under 20k street prices in a year or two.

What reliability issues...98 percent have no issues besides the fuel pump...the ones with the issues track there cars and heavily modified them
