AVH-X2500BT or AVH-X5500BHS
like the title says, I'm planning on putting one into my wife's crv for when we take long trips. Which would you choose any why?

The higher model has a motorized face that is a little larger, 4v RCA preouts and HD radio. I just wanted to see if anyone had experience with either of these models. |

I have the 8500 which is a removable face version of the 5500. I love the head unit. iPhone integration needs an adapter. iPhone 5 adapter also requires the lightning av adapter from apple to split off HDMI for video support. Great head unit.

Get the 5500 and call it a day. It does more than the 2500 and since you are getting it for free, I would go with more features and the larger screen on the 5500 especially for trips.

thanks guys! If teh wife doesn't want it, I may put it up for sale on here, or just install it in the frs (although I like the simplicity of my current setup)

I have the 5500. Its a great little unit. The AppRadio is gimmicky though. Extremely slow and really just an all around pain in the ass. The rest of the unit is awesome though. Do youself a favour and pick up an e-brake bypass for $20 (or if you are feeling adventurous wire one up your self using a $5 relay) so your passenger can watch movies on the road.
