Nav question for Canadian BRZ owners
Is there a way (without doing any type of software bypass) to change the startup screen when you're driving and not using the navigation? I hate that it just sits on the warning message if you don't press okay.
My wife's CRV eventually turns into a large clock if you don't accept the navi terms (I.e. don't want to use the navi but still want to listen to music).

I did the software bypass a while ago, so I may be remembering wrong, but I think that if I left it on the music screen when I turned off the car, it wouldn't pop up the warning message until I tried to go into the map......
But like I said..... it's been a long time now.....so I could very well be mis-remembering.... |

Sorry I probably should have added that I don't want it sitting on the radio station screen either.
I wish it would just go dark, or to some kind of screen saver / clock type screen.

Oh, I wanted to have a black screen too, but I couldn't figure out how to turn it off without having the handbrake on.... you may be out of luck without a software mod....
If you have time, try checking out http://avic411.com/ they may have something there. |

The only way I've found is to do the software mod and set the proper bit via the hex editor to disable the nag screen completely.
As for a clock/blank screen, the only option for that is OFF. |

I just spent almost 3 hours going over every menu and every page in the manual...no go. Looks like I'll have to do the software mod.

The software mod, allows you to remove the nag screen (lawyer screen/'drive safe notice/follow the rules, whatever you want to call it). It also enables you to disable 'safe mode'. You'll be presented with a new button in the settings menu that turns off safe mode, so that you have full functionality while moving. You'll also be able to access the 'screen off' button while in motion. Home button-->Settings-->Screen off. This is really good for those drive on dark country roads where you don't want to impair your night vision.
