banging bike wheel sound
When i'm in 2nd or 3rd gear going on the gas about 2k-3k rpms the front of my motor sounds like a bike wheel spinning and a kid holding a metal rod to it. its an obnoxious metallic ticking noise against something.. Is my timing wrong? its always at random usually after you stop and go happens once a week give or take. i noticed it after ft86sf tune. i then took the tune and went back to stock and its still there.. Should i go to a shop and have it tuned?

Nope.. this literally sounds like metal tapping super hard. I'll shift and it goes away. Doesn't last long but sometimes it happens not a everyday thing

hmmmm.......for some reason, I don't think it is related to the tune, although the sound appeared after you tuned it.
I'd suggest you check the serpentine belt to make sure the idler pulley is keeping it tight. While you're under there, I'd suggest you check all the pulleys that the belt drives to make sure they are running true. Check things around the pulleys (like the shields) to make sure they are tight. Has it been hot enough for your radiator fans to run .. ?? If so, maybe you picked up a stick or something that the fan blade is catching .. ?? humfrz |

In another thread you mentioned:
".......It starts around 4k and goes all the way up to 7k in every gear. I think I fucked up the clutch in all honesty because I used to ride it and accidently grind gears. I'm at 40k miles. Getting it checked tomorrow. I'm prepared to spend some cash on new clutch etc. My first manual car. But I drive it fine now. It must of gradually gotten worse over time." In light of that observation, I'd suggest you perform a simple clutch test. Set the emergency brake (real good). Put your car in second gear. Rev the engine to about 3,000 rpms. Slowly let out the clutch and see if it makes that noise ..... before the engine stalls. If it makes that noise, it's a good chance it's clutch related. If the engine doesn't stall ........ plan on buying a new clutch...... ![]() humfrz |
