Tow hooks

Hi everyone,

Correct me if I'm wrong, but to my knowledge tow hooks should get placed depending on how the layout of the car is. If it's a FWD the tow hook should be in the front and vice versa.

If my understanding is correct, why do so many people I see with aftermarket hooks have it in the rear when their car is FWD ( I we a lot of civics like this)

Thanks

well most people who i know, use the tow hook for appearances not for functionality. but a lot of cars have the option to place a tow hook in the front and rear.

I'm pretty sure you use whichever tow hook is pointing in the direction you want to tow the car

Yeah, the layout of the car. Whichever end is laying out of the ditch.

A friend of mine keeps telling me how cool my car would look with the tow hooks installed, even though I don't track my car. I've always tried to avoid the subject because isn't it ricey?

Ricey is just an opinion. With tasteful cosmetic mods the tow hook can look pretty good. Then again on an old beat up EJ hatch, it will look stupid.

Tow hooks are silly on a street car. Unless you're me. I seem to be using mine alot. But I have a 9 mile not so public road up a mountain ending at a very small government installation I drive every other day at night....

Pointless on street cars.
Even towing company's won't touch them due to insurance reasons.

I'm gonna dip mine in yellow plasti-dip and drive around with it on the front of my ultramarine.

I'm down with the road. Kinda jelly.

Just hook 6 feet of chain on it and drag it around for sparks!
You could even rig an alcohol drip and look like Ghost Rider going down the road.
