Carbon hoods - need help

Wondering if anyone has experience with the carbon hoods and if anyone is using the Grimmspeed (or others) hood lifts on these? Will they still work?

Any help, as i really want to swap out my hood, but want to make sure i buy one that will allow the hood lifts.

Hey man

If you get a carbon hood GO AND GET HOOD PINS, if you like to drive fast.. I had to duct tape my carbon hood when I went to the Nürburgring, after the hood wanted to fly off my car, when driving above 130km/h..

If you have the Grimmspeed ones, then yes. Some of the other cheaper hood struts are too strong and will push up the carbon fiber hood up. If you see picture of bad Siebon fitment with a raise at the top of the fenders, its more likely due to poorly designed struts. As also stated above I would recommend hood locking pins, mine lifts a little at speed. I bought these

They allow you to lock your hood and look cleaner then traditional hood pins.

I've had grimmspeed struts through three carbon hoods. Don't ask why I had three lol.

Never had issues with any of the three hoods. I had the seibon ts and had no issues, but then got rid of it. I now have the vis ams and no issues as well. Fitment is perfect and I don't get movement while driving on the freeway.

Hope this helps!

Is there a trick to keep the arch on the hood where it meets the top of the fender flush? Mine is poking up a little. Or is it because I don't have hood struts?

It's probably the hood not being 100% perfect. Unfortunately most/cheaper manufacturers don't guarantee perfect fitment —otherwise their yield rate would be too low and they'd need to charge much more per piece to make a profit. My own Seibon hood has some fitment issues too.

Figured Seibon would of been a better fitment than it is. It's not too noticeable though. Really considering some hood pins though.
