Just Ordered some ST coilovers

I've looked at installations on these on the forum and other coilovers. Just making sure im not gonna need a spring compressor for this car? Didn't on my TC. But no ones said anything about it so i'm guessing its not needed? thanks.

Pretty sure you need a spring compressor to swap over the OEM top hats

loosen the stock suspension before raising the car, and then hand tighten everything and use the cars weight to compress the springs. It's not the best method but it works, I did it. Make sure you get the rear strut rod tight enough or you'll have a horrible metal on metal noise.

Check the diy section for the easier spring stru install to describe the way mentioned above. I have used it on multiple twins with good results.

no need spring compressor for stock struts.. you wont lose a limb..

if you have previously lower springs installed, try to lose top nut the spring will release

load = spring stiffness x distance

decrease the distance = lower the load

You really should use a spring compressor. After doing two coilover installs, it's not very safe to just loosen the top on the stock struts. It will shoot off and with a lot of force. Coilovers you don't have to worry about that if you're swapping top hats that way. Definitely rent some from auto zone or buy a set. Not worth risking a trip to the ER.

I've done two spring installs on this platform. You don't need compressors. If you loosen the top hats before you raise the car, all compression (barely any) is dissipated.

Op.. if u really worry about it, autozone gives free rental for spring comp I believe. But I did two times springs install. I had zero issues without top nut shooting up like bullet.

My top hats shot off even a bit while compressed, but hardly any. There's a reason why there's a huge warning in the DIY section about placing it against something hard if you're not going to compress the spring.

If you COMPLETELY loosen the top hat from the strut while the car is on the ground, the factory coil over disassembles itself. If you remove the still assembled coilover, then of course you will have a little pressure. But even that isn't much. I've done it both ways.
