Does a denied entry follow you forever?

About 5 years ago I was denied entry to Canada. I have since visited several times. In fact my last visit was in February and they still asking about it. However, each time they ask me about the denied entry, I tell them what happened, and they let me in no problem. Will this be the case for the rest of my life every time I visit Canada?

Just curious because it is kind of annoying that they ask me about, meanwhile I'm sure in their computer system they know full well all the details, and after I tell them they don't say anything about it and let me in. I have visited other countries and they don't say anything.

Thanks for your time.

It all gets stored onto a network just like police use to track interactions with people. In the case of police forces, they can't afford to store all that information indefinitely so after X amount of time they delete the trivial/minor things. I don't know about border services, but most police forces only dump data that is 10-15 years old (serious stuff stays for ever obviously). I'm guessing border services probably does the same.

So I would say not likely for life but it could be a long time still.

It'll be on their database, but it is one of the standard questions you get asked most times anyway. You get asked that no matter if you've been denied in the past or not.

It's if you deny it ever happening then they will give you a hard time about it. Haven't you ever watched Border Wars lol.

The data bases on both sides of Canada-US crossing points is continually being updated and older info is being added (nothing is deleted).

This process was a result of anti terrorism.

A minor 30 yr old young offender non indictable summary conviction offence could be used to deny entry.

Border guards are no longer just tax collectors - even the canuck tax collectors are emulating the yankees.

If you ever watch that show "border security" where they film the various activities of the border guards, its shows them being pretty strict on the rules. But it seems like they can make the call based on their own discretion, so if you're polite and truthful they'll continue to ask about your previous denial to see if you're being honest but will continue to allow you entry in the future.

I was told I'm flagged at the border, and they say it stays on for about 7-10 years...so maybe it'll be the same amount of time. But this was with the CBSA

Apparently, a friend of a friend brought an egg salad sandwich through the U.S. border by accident and the guard found it. Then, a year later, when she visited the States again, the guard asked her if she had any egg salad sandwiches.
