Noob Questions regarding AT launch.
So I read in another thread that you can launch the AT hard by holding the brake and pressing the gas until desired RPMs (nannies off). I tried it but the car seemed to start doing a burn out so I stopped
![]() So three questions.... What am I doing wrong when attempting to launch the car at around 4k? Now I am curious about a burnout with the FRS, all I have to do is hold the brake hard and mash the gas? Is there another way? Will these actions harm the tranny/motor? Lets not start a manual vs auto discussion

Torque converter won't let you go past 2500 rpms. Gonna have to get a higher stall converter, and even then the only one I've seen raises it just 500 more rpms.
I think if you're launching it hard on the daily then yeah you're gonna have some issues, but I've seen track guys torque braking on the weekends with no problems.

![]() Personally, if I wanted "fast" I'd have looked at the Mustang, Camaro or Charger. I think they're all well over 300hp base, V6. Great for the straight lines. But for me, the FRS isn't about muscle, it's about finesse (though there's plenty of options to beef it up). I completely empathize about the NYC driving though, the only good vehicle for that type of driving are AT sub-compact electrics. |

Even if you fuck up the tranny, the dealership can still deny you if they find it to be your fault due to launching. Which would go under street racing and no dealership would even bother with you.

Our gear ratios are practically the same, you don't have much advantage from an AT driver other than having a clutch. But with most drivers i know the clutch is the losing point.

This. I remember when driving my A/T I had to be a little light on the throttle and press down on the brake pedal almost all the way. Just make sure you're holding the brake pedal and watch the revs they shouldn't go past 2500 then let out brake and you'll have your ultra slow A/T launch.
