Should i buy used coilovers?
A mutual friend is selling me his Tein Street Advance coilovers that have been used for 2k kms only for street kms. And he wants to sell it to me for 800 plus he will install for me as he has the right tools and has done so on a few cars. Should i buy second hand or buy brand new? If i buy brand new Tein street advance coilovers, they go for about 1.4k here in Australia excluding installation.
Im getting 18x9.5 wheels on 245/40/18 tyres so ill have to lower it to get ride of that wheel gap. |

That's really up to you, but for me personally, I don't like buying certain items used, such as coilovers and brake calipers. My reasoning is that these items have seals on them and need to be rebuilt at certain intervals. I would rather buy new and know exactly the type of driving conditions that I placed the parts through rather than hope that everything is OK.

If he's a friend and you know he takes care of his stuff then I'd say you have very little risk.
If it's some stranger thousands of miles away then you're taking some chances.

How low was his car? Is he local to you, do you know him?
Do Tein's have a lifetime warranty, or what is the warranty - is it transferable? I'd say it's probably not a bad move to go used if they've been used lightly so far. If it were me, I'd take a look at the condition externally, and if they check out I'd jump on it. |

Tein makes awesome coil-overs, we have them on our FRS and they are great.
If you trust your friend, I'd say go for it Nick C.
