Helllllooooo
So I'm transferring over to UMCP, was wondering if theres a spot twins usually park? I heard the parking sucks ass so any helpful tips in securing a nice spot will be appreciated. |

Commuter student? I used to work for DOTS at UMD. Parking does in fact suck. If you haven't registered for a lot yet then you will be stuck parking far away (lot 6 or lot 4). I guess not such a bad thing if you want to keep your car safe.

Been traveling and so sadly the only orientation date I can make is tomorrow. So I'm guessing I'm getting crap CS/CE classes and bad parking. And yes I will be commuting. I live in silver spring so it shouldn't take too long.

I drove a couple times to see the route... And that is why I'm contemplating in not lowering my car.

If you're coming from Silver Spring there is always this option.

i went to collie park for 4 years and commuted for 3 of them..I can tell you that although Lot 1 is the ideal parking lot cause of it's proximity to everything, it might be in your best interest to park in one of the garages.
the parking spaces in Lot 1 are real tight..regents garage is the best option if you are able to get a spot, if not, it might be in your best interest to walk the extra 10 mins to lot 6.. |

Regents is a great place to park. Problem is only juniors and seniors have a shot at parking there, and it a lottery-based system.

Just take advantage of all the corner and edge parking and you'll be fine. However, if you want the absolute best parking, covered with lots of corner spaces, Lot 6 would be the way to go, you'll just have to walk a bit further. But if your a graduate student then Regents would be my choice. Hope this helps!

Also if you have your student ID you don't have to wait for orientation, you can sign up here http://www.transportation.umd.edu/student.html

Well just finish a few summer classes at MC but before Augusta State or I guess GRU now. Thanks for the tips! Nice to know I can sign up for parking (lot9) now rather than probably wait in line on orientation. Hopefully I bump to some twins.
