Kreissieg Exhaust For FT-86

Hey guys,

I'm new here and would like to introduce myself. I'm Kevin from Hong Kong and I just completed my full TRD FT-86 about a month ago (Pictures will be available soon).

I recently went on a drive with a bunch of my friends and was amazed by an exhaust system one of my friends bought for his LP-560-4 by Kreissieg. For those who don't know know Kreissieg, they are a company who make high quality F1 sounding exhaust systems for high end vehicles.

Anyways, I contacted them and asked whether they would make a one-off system for my FT-86. After a few days they emailed me back and said that it was possible but it would cost around 4500 USD (Approx. 35,000 HKD). In comparison, the exhaust system my friend bought cost 7000 USD.

I've been contemplating for quite a few days because I've always wanted to keep my FT-86 a full TRD one. But the sound Kreissieg makes is just orgasmic. Any opinions/ideas are welcome. Thank you very much for your help guys!

If you have the money, why are you even debating this decision? This is a no-brainer. Just be sure to post vids when you get it.

Thanks for your opinion guys. I understand that theres no way a 86 will sound as amazing as those exotic cars. But yeah I am very curious too...too bad they won't have a youtube clip of the exhaust note anytime soon. And I'm worried that the exhaust note will be a bit too exaggerated for a car like this if you guys know what I mean.

Don't expect a great sound, this is a Flat 4, the more exotic sounds we chase after are big V8 and V12 engines that have quite a few more liters.

4K? For an exhaust, hey man its your car but do be reminded this car in the US is about 25k. 4K spent on only an exhaust for a cheap sports car? Sounds kinda pointless to me.

If you wanna hear a company that makes exhausts for exotic cars that were fitted on to our car, then check our Supersprint, most likely the closet you can go to that "exotic" sound.

Could not agree more. That exhaust note of exotics is not only the result of 8 or 12 cylinders, but also stratospheric redlines (8500-9000 rpm redlines). That sound will be nearly impossible to achieve with the FA20, no matter who is making the exhaust.

You just need to watch the video on you tube of their exhaust installed onto the Lotus Elise and Exige to hear what a 4 cylinders car sound like with their exhaust. The sound is not that much different than any other aftermarket exhaust maker I heard till now.

There is no way to explain such a higher price for the difference you will get out of it.

What. You must not have heard many exhausts. Brands like Kreissieg, Saclam, and Akrapovič sound a million times better than 98% of regular (affordable) brand name exhausts out there mainly because they're sound engineers too, not just welders. They're not in the business to "sell an exhaust." They're selling a uniquely crafted sound.

Also, $4K because handmade for each car and titanium.

It's called Ft-86 over here in Asia. Gt-86 is their European designation and frs is the North American one I believe.

No, it is still GT86 in Hong Kong.

FT86 was ONLY the concept. Never production.

$7,000 exhaust on a $200,000+ car is not unreasonable, I suppose.
$4,500 exhaust on a $25,000 car IS unreasonable. Spend that money on a turbo kit and make it more than a noise maker.

Really? I thought that Euro/Asia had the same designation... That's pretty interesting.

Thanks Ro_Ja for the explanation. Essentially what 4k is getting me is exclusivity and a unique sound as nobody has gotten such a premium exhaust for the 86 yet. I understand that the engine for this car will never sound like a Ferrari, Maserati or Lamborghini. The "cheapest" car they made an exhaust for is the Volkswagen R32. Which cost around the same price. Over here in hk the 86 cost a bit over 50k USD, double that of US. And I'm planning to keep this car for a very long time, unless the new possible KERS system variant of the 86 turns out to be godlike and the system can't be retrofitted to existing cars.

Here is the link for the Volkswagen R32 Kreisseig exhaust note.
