When it comes to trouble-shooting did you follow the a/c operating procedures in the owners manual? What didn't work, fan, temp, vents? It's likely either a loose connection or a fuse. That's why we get warranties with new cars. Take it to your dealer and it probably will be a quick fix.

The fan works, heater works.. just not the AC. When i press AC, its just regular air. According to the dealers, they said they have to keep it and look it over. Run test and all.. lol, this car is less than 2 days old too
I tired reading the manual, and it does not say anything about trouble shooting or anything. I only read about how it works and all.. Unless i missed it. -_-" |

I'm lying in bed but I think that AC will come on either when the temp knob is all the way to the max cold area or if its in the blue (cold) area. That's how it is on some Toyotas. I've had my car for 6 months now and only used it to warm the car up; maybe it's time to do so.

What is the ambient temperature, the outside air temp?
Around 32 degrees F automobile AC systems are designed NOT to turn ON; they could, and probably would, freeze the lines causing damage, and leaks, and all of the refrigerant would leak out. So they don't turn ON ... by design. I don't recall what the exact temperature is for the BRZ/FRS. Is it cold out? |

FWIW: If I recall correctly, the coldest air a normal automotive air conditioner can output is around 54 degrees. Whether or not that has anything to do with the compressor turning on below that ambient temperature, I have no idea. It can be useful to remove moisture from the air even under heating conditions, and even in colder temperatures, though. Point being that if you're trying to cool below 54 degrees or so, you're not likely to notice a difference.
My HVAC controls stay on full AUTO and the AC light is almost always, if not always, lit. To the OP: Take it to the dealer, it's not your problem - its theirs. |

The vehicle owner’s manual from the manufacturer. Quote:
Is it your deliberate intention to sound as combative and rude as you do here in this aggressive post? “Says who?” What you observed, almost certainly, is the LED or light turn ON when you press the controls for the AC. All of my cars have behaved identically. What you will discover is that, although the lighted LED indicates the AC is ON, in fact the compressor never kicked in. In other words, the AC is OFF. I have observed this phenomenon in every car I’ve ever owned. (Actually, my new 1968 car and my new 1970 Boss 302 did not have AC.) Sit in a quiet parking spot, turn on your BRZ, and listen carefully as you press the AC button. In temperatures around 32 deg F and below, you will NOT hear the compressor activated. No compressor operation = no air conditioning. Some auto manufacturers set the AC cut-off temp even higher; some Ford owners report their manual stating it to be 39 degrees F. By the way, the manual for my home air conditioning system warns the user not to turn the AC on in temperatures below 50 degrees F. Why do you imagine that is? The understanding you seek is in your BRZ manual, although admittedly obscure. Subaru only alludes to this condition, but it’s there. You’ll have to ask them why they didn’t just spell it out in simple English like other manuals do. Why don’t you go and find this (it’s a simple task) in the BRZ manual, copy it, return here and paste it into your next post to help the members of this forum understand. You’ll learn, they’ll learn, win-win all around, wouldn’t you say? You are here to be helpful, right?

also, when i turn on the A/C in cold Toronto winter, the sound of the car changes, just like when i turn it on in the summer. so... just because someone said "says who?" doesn't mean they are combative. right? ![]() lol stay calm, i'm not here to be "combative" with you. stay calm... stay... calm... |

I'm noticing that the maturity level of these forums is not what it could be.
