Really long trips
I know this has probably been brought up before, but I am now getting more serious about buying a BRZ and was wondering about how they are on long trips. Thousand miler and beyond.

Decent really. I've done 3 road trips, and took some gas station breaks to stretch and eat gummie bears. Really comfortable...and fun when you find the opportunities. Avoid interstates haha

I haven't done any cross country trips in the BRZ, but I have gone a couple hundred miles at a time for no particular reason. Its a comfortable/enjoyable ride for the most part. It's noticeably bumpier than a normal car, but thats to be expected, and even so its not jolting.
It should be just as reliable as any modern day vehicle. I see no reason why it wouldn't be perfectly capable of going 1000s of miles in a few days free of issues. I think my only complaint would be no lumbar support, but that's just an old man complaint. Easy to fix with a small pillow. |

The standard suspension is very comfortable, the driving position is great and seat support is okay despite no lumbar adjustment, but the headrests make the car completely unusable on long journeys.
http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7286 I can't drive mine for any more than 200km without ending up with severe neck strain. I like the car but my seats are destined for the bin. |

I've made two trips from Fort Worth to St. Louis, and back, and have found it to be very comfortable. I haven't had any particular issues with lumbar or neck strain.

I took mine to Florida and back. Overall pretty good. No back problems, but after a while my butt went numb. Got over 34 MPG so no complaints there either.

I am 5ft 6" tall 165lbs I took a 7 hour road trip. So far no issues for me, seats are comfortable, headrest is perfect to me, car handles like rail, audio is great and car looks good.
Ride is a little stiff compared to the average car but it does not bother me one bit. To me the stiffy suspension is just perfect and is the fun factor for the trip.

There's another thing I forgot to mention - the electronics.
The BRZ headunit's Bluetooth audio feature is nice for driving and forgetting - throw the iPhone on shuffle/Pandora, plug it in and forget about it. Now the USB port is nice as well and not only for the iPhone. When I take road trips, I carry two Motorola two-way radios, my GoPro, my iPhone and a tablet. With the USB port and car charge plug in easy access, I can cycle charging all of my devices with without taking my eyes off the road for more than a few seconds. Great for stop lights. With the previously mentioned gas mileage, it's a great road trip car - alone or not. |

Its a great road trip car. Traveled to Ohio which is about 8 hours away from me, only had to fill up twice when leaving with an full tank.
Make sure you find your optimum seating position for these seats, its a bitch when someone changes my seats cause i mostly have it perfect for me... Just take some cash, throw the clothes in the back and go for it. |
