For those who had an ECU tune..

Hello all, I've been a long time lurker but finally bothered to register on the forums.

I have a sterling silver BRZ myself and am really blown away by it.

As far as mods go I'm looking at getting the ECU tuned (for now).
I've seen ppl getting gains from 10 to 30 hp, but the first question that comes to my mind with that ,is how much faster your car goes after the tune you had.

I mean like something comparable as a 0-100 km/h ( or 0-60 mph ofc)...

Thanks in advance for sharing your experiences

Going for a tune right away wouldn't be my cup of tea but I'm guessing a tune on a stock car would yield 5-10 ponies to the wheels. I think that'll shave off APRROX 0.3 (don't take my word on this) seconds off the stock 0-100/0-60 time.

I remember reading about an ausy group that got 36hp out of a tune. I would be worried about eng life and reliability... also remember it killing the fuel I believe

ill put a link here if i can find it again

Welcome ProjectXTR. I'll tell you whatever you ask if you send me some Belgian chocolate!

Seriously, that was a great question. I have been pondering doing the tune but need verifiable data from third parties. From a tangible perspective the value of the tune is only what people claim it does for performance. It could also be the biggest scam in some cases, if it doesn't deliver as it claims.

Personally I'd pay $1000 extra for a special model that undeniably puts out 10% more power.

i'm tuned, and its a beautiful mod. probably my most impactful, even more than the headerback. if you only do one mod, i'd recommend it be the tune. now i've never heard of HP gains of 20+ but you'll probably net 10 whp or so depending on where you live

correct, you will see much higher gains with the E85 tune if you have access to it. I can't wait til we have the flex fuel kit available.

Are there any issues using E85 on the stock fuel system? Ethanol has been known to corrode seals.

I got 20hp. On a totally stock motor. Drives like a different car.

Really not happy with the fact that my gas gauge won't work properly now. Some glitch in the tuning program I'm told...

If it's ecutek, get an updated tune. Most of that has been worked out. It's hands down the single best car mod i have done.

I honestly feel like the tune is must for this car! It provides a 5-12hp increase throughout the powerband and 5-10lbs of torque throughout the power band. Heres a quick video of my 0-60 and 1/4 mile with the tune. before the tune i wud get like 6.9-7.3 secs 0-60 now i pull 6.1-6.3 secs. Flatfoot shifting and launch control also help with shaving some secs off.

Well see that's the problem, I'm reading everywhere that fuel quality has a very big impact on the car's performance.

Only thing yet again is that I can't really compare because here in Europe we don't have such thing as E85. Our gasoline options are either 95 or 98 (98 is what you have to use here).
