Good article. I liked the final word, but seemed a balanced review.

good article, im glad the author tried really hard not to praise the FRS/BRZ too much like some other comparison reviews.
But some those article comments on the bottom..wow... I just cant believe there are still people like that with such hateful and non-constructive comments, as if this car's existence is directly attacking their choices in auto enthusiast decisions. Some of my friends asked me about the FRS and why I would justify buying one. I just ask them if they are interested in buying a AE86 for 3k-5k, then replacing everything with all new modern re-engineered manufactured parts, body restored + painted, and get a little in power. If they said yes..then id direct them to the FRS. Because essentially, the FRS is what you get after all the time, effort, and money put into a brand new re-engineered AE86 project while retaining the same soul and character of the original.

Hyundai is becoming a truly impressive carmaker... but they still have a long way to go. The Genesis coupe is an honest effort and I'm glad they're putting it out there for sale because the world needs more sports cars. My dollars are going to Subaru/Toyota however.

great article. I have a 2010 2.0t genesis. It was a terrible car to own after a while since the power was really @ 180rwhp. After much tunning and suspension the genesis is a better car now. 3 years with the car with 91k+ miles with it tuned to 230rwhp n 280rwtq. Its been a real fun car to own and drift.
they were right on the heaviness of the car entering the corner and finding the sweet spot to get it out, then again their car isn't tuned. Major lag with out the tune. |

If i were in the market for a Genesis, first thing id do is suspension and trying to shave the poundage on the car. It should be fine in the power department. But if that was my first goals, why not just by a more capable chassis like the FRS. and then spend the additional $5000 on a turbo kit? From my tuning aspect, its better to have a good starting platform, than a platform with potential.

"Essentially, a lot of what this comparison comes down to is how you, as a driver, get your kicks. If you’re the type of person who needs power and outright speed, the Genesis Coupe 2.0T R-Spec will probably win your dollars. And, it still won’t let you down in other aspects of driving, especially when it comes to livability. If you draw pleasure from magical, telepathic handling, and from the challenge of keeping momentum, you’ll likely prefer either the Subaru BRZ or the Scion FR-S." That's really all there is to it. People will get defensive because the car is receiving a lot of attention, mostly positive, and it makes them feel insecure about their decision to buy or "root for" some other car. At the end of the day we are lucky to have so many choices in cars that everyone can get something that satisfies their own personal requirements. |

Nooo! Embrace it! I'm so glad that this car is hated on by so many people. This is a car you have to "get". When I go to a meet or to this forum, I like hearing from people and talking to people who "get it". Of course from the outside looking in this makes us look like a bunch of cultists. "No no no! Trust me our measly 4 cylinder 200hp cars are much better than everyone else out there!!"
