Stock 86 and E98....

My local E85 dealer is considering carrying E98 instead. Currently running E85 and the V4 OFT E85 tune on my stock 17 86.

As far as I know and can determine, E98 SHOULD be OK on the OTS tune.

Correct?

Thanks, smarterer dudes!

Its going to run high fuel trims unless you tweak fueling.

E98 is not going to start in cold temps

You might just want to mix in 10-15% petrol into it

Thanks. We do get cold enough here for trouble starting with E85, and DIY blending sounds like PITA without my own garage space.

Might be fun to mix up a five gallon can, though.

It's not a perfect science, the tune can handle from 60-90% ethanol. You don't have to blend in a can, just stop at the pump, put in (from E) 2 gals of 93 then fill up on the E98. It'll be close enough to be perfect.

Sounds easy. Highest we have here is 92, though. Still might try the can, as that would give me just five gallons to check with, rather than a full tank. At 18 mpg of E85, I could empty that in no time at all.

Need to stop buy and see if this is moving forward.

Thanks!

I get about 19 mpg and with a 13.5 gal tank and a 45 Mike round trip commute.... My tank feels awfully small! The OFT tune is good from E60 to E90, there's no performance benefit from anything more than 60% ethanol. There's a lot of info on this forum about it. My car feels so much better on corn juice too. You can use a wide range of ethanol % because E85 is much more tolerant of a wider ranger of AFR, unlike gas that only makes power in a very narrow AFR range.
