OEM header removal

I've been reading blogs about removing the header and the rest of the exhaust system. Thing is they always group the headers with the rest of the exhaust. If I am just replacing the header can't I just unplug the O2 sensors, remove the lowe front cover, unbolt where it connects to the overpipe, then unbolt header from the engine? Does anything else require unbolting if I just need to remove the header?

Unplug o2 sensor then remove all bolts from connected pipes. Simple as that for removing header.

You will have to remove the stud-bolts from the stock header. Either that or remove the front-pipe. If you just remove the nuts you wont be able to maneuver the header out of the car.

Use a stud-remover tool, or make your own by tightening two nuts against eachother on the stud.

Also, you might want to consider wrapping the header if its stainless. Stainless header on stock exhaust can sound a bit farty, it does so on mine anyway. So i'm having it wrapped next year.

You can get the stock header with weld studs off without removing the front pipe/over pipe by undoing one bolt on the bottom of front pipe. this allows you to drop the front pipe down about an inch, which will give you enough room to get the header off. That's how I did it anyway.

Loosen the bolts on the FP and OP flanges and remove the bolts on the solid hanger near the gearbox. Spray all the nuts down the night before and just before with PB Blaster you'll be fine. have a dab of grease on hand to help stick the gaskets up to the block.

Use a new Grimmspeed gasket every time you put the header back on. You don't have to uninstall the entire exhaust, but it has to be loose to wriggle the header off.
