Completely stock 2016 FR-S, what would you do first?

So my car is currently 100% stock and I am wondering opinions from people on what I should do to it first.

Suggestions?

If it was my car and most likely it still is low enough in miles to be under full factory warranty, I would do the following:

1. Dig up a spare set of rims to get snow tires for the Winter (Indiana). Don't know if you need to do this where you are living in NorCal so you may be able to avoid doing this.

2. When the factory Michelin Primacy HPs wear out, replace them with equivalent size tires with a stickier tread (consideration must be given to what happens to tread life when doing this). This will boost cornering and braking performance without forcing you to buy different rims for the non-Winter daily driving tires.

3. When the 5 year 60,000 mile powertrain warranty expires, install header and get the equivalent of a Stage 2 tune. I would go with a catless header but since you are in California, you may need to stick with a catted header.

4. Only if necessary, do further exhaust mods if the header / tune upgrade results in excessive drone and/or the exhaust note becomes unacceptable.

That's it.

The FR-S is my daily driver so I wouldn't want to mod it too much, especially in the powertrain. When you make the candle burn brighter, it doesn't last as long. This car needs to last and I am very happy already with its performance such minimal upgrades will do me just fine.

Of course, your mileage may vary on the upgrade path you are motivated to pursue.

Good luck!

There ya go!

I'd suggest you set a course for Jasper National Park in Alberta, Canada.

No matter what route you take to get there or how you come back, it will be a beautiful drive .....

Seriously, just drive it. Remember your break in period is the first 1k miles. After which drive it another 6k miles until your first oil change (less if you're paranoid). Then if you want to mod it, do one thing at a time. Appreciate your work, feel the changes, and then do another (if it so inclines you.) Don't be in a hurry, find some twisty roads, be safe, and drive lots.
