I used this, its called Quadlock. I made a mount out of aluminum angle and it sits low and easy to see. The install is here http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showp...&postcount=186

Phone Mounts
I've got a Scosche Magic Mount too. I wish I had discovered it years ago, I've never seen a better/faster mount from any company. Even better that it's universal.

You can remove the back and put a metal plate back there on the OPO and the OP2.

No you add a sticky plate to it I had it still on there when I sold my opo and got the OPT, or if you have a case theres a plate without any of the 3m adhesive you put in the case between the OPO

@PandaBRZ
pics have a pretty strong HDR effect on ![]() ![]() Sorry to thread jack since this is a radio with a phone mount. The radio install is clean looking when you aren't scrutinizing it. It sounds good and it worked perfectly with using google voice commands (pressing the voice button or the OK button on the remote) with my Nexus 5x. The flaws I have with it so far. 1.) If you don't have a front power button on your phone (like iPhone or Samsung) or double-tap to wake then you might have a problem. Fortunately I can just squeeze the top bracket and it will push my power button. 2.) The unit isn't super flush, you can see it poking out. This may be due to me losing the bracket that comes with it and just using the one the shop had. 3.) A lot of the functions, like pairing phones, requires the remote. You don't want to lose that. 4.) Volume buttons instead of a knob. Always a worse choice. The buttons beep, that sucks. Maybe I'll find some settings to change that. 5.) The blue LED's are awful. I'm going to have to cover them with light dimmers: http://www.lightdims.com/store.htm Last edited by radroach; 12-28-2015 at 07:22 PM. |

FYI: The Scosche MagicMount and Beat-Sonic QBF13 are made using the same ball-swivel joint. You can unscrew the tightening nut on the MagicMount and the QBF13, pop the ball joints apart, and swap one to the other. Relatively pain free FRS-specific magnetic mount... and the BeatSonic QBF13 fits well over JPM Coachworks upholstered panels...

To the right of the radio on the dash- velcro. I have the same setup at work so I can take my phone out of my car and toss it in my truck. No muss, no fuss.

Love the BeatSonic mount but cant use it atm since my dash is signed. I got the imagnet setup for my OFT and tried it on my phone with no luck thanks to a thicker case and where the magnet was but it kept slipping

somebody vandalized your dashboard with a signature and you're trying to preserve it?

I got a cheap 3 in 1 mount from omaker on amazon and just installed. PITA so far..but I'm concerned about suction cup damage to the dash. The plastics in the 86 are very very soft and have fading/blemishes just from regular cleaning.
Also no one has had gps/navigation interference with magnetic mounts? All the research I did came to the conclusion that magnets are still harmful to electronics. Last edited by Spacemane969; 09-27-2016 at 01:12 PM. |

I use mine pretty often and haven't noticed any difference in GPS function. As long as you're not mounting a spinning drive to your magnet mount, you'll be fine...
