Because people with no intention of buying go to dealerships for the sole purpose of taking joy rides.

Sucks, but I can definitely see the dealerships point of view...

She did say in the OP she isn't going to buy one anytime soon.

Certainly wouldn't be interested in having her drive mine.

I got to test drive an FR-S with no money down or anything signed at the dealership near me, even though I specifically told the sales guy I had a special order Hot Lava coming in through them. It was obvious mine was just a joy ride but he didn't say anything.

Don't even test drive it... Just buy it... It couldn't have been more pleasing to drive an FR-S for the first time, and then drive it home!

When I purchased my car they said they never let people go for test drive of STi without a deposit and credit check, and they are picky with WRX test drives. Told me they had more than a few people come to test drive just to beat on the car for fun and have had some near accidents from less than experienced drivers. I can understand where they are coming from just as I can understand it is frustrating for the buyer.

I went to two dealers that got the FRS in to check out the colors and pricing. One I asked to test drive and he said sure. Didnt even ask me for driver license or anything. He went and grabbed the key and away we go. The other one did ask for me driver license but that was it. None of that deposit and credit check nonsense. Although I did put down a deposit a week later for a Whiteout. Its coming in soon I hope. (10/23)

I got to test drive the 2012 mustang, eve 10, dodge challenger srt 8 with no money down. The dealer I got my frs from lets people test drive with no money down.

I do like the way you think! :happy0180:

Regarding dealers allowing test drives, around here they all tell me that they have a waiting list and the cars they get in have already been spoken for. They do, however, allow those customers to do a test drive before signing on the bottom line and they allow right of first refusal.
