Carrera GT = .198 X 3,000 = 594hp

SLR McLaren = .164 X 3900 = 639hp

STi BRZ = .1 X 2800 = 280
No I'm definitely not agreeing that the BRZ-T will surpass supercar power-to-weight ratios. I think you're looking at the power-to-weight numbers backwards.

Using your formula (power/weight), larger is faster. I was trying to help you by posting up the numbers you want (weight/power), where smaller is faster.

This would be beyond supercar territory.

Saleen S7 = .254
Carrera GT = .198
599 = .166
SLR McLaren = .164
Etc, etc..

I'm calling shenanigans. Another slow news day equals a rediculous article.

Maybe so? My brain could be over thinking it at this point.

Yeah looking back over the posts, I'm pretty sure you're thinking of weight-to-power ratio (not power-to-weight ratio), where smaller is faster.

SLR Mclaren = 3900 lbs / 619 hp = 6.3 lbs/hp
370z = 3232 lbs / 332 hp = 9.7 lbs/hp
BRZ-T = 2800 lbs / 280 hp = 10.0 lbs/hp
A BRZ-T should be pretty similar to a 370z, definitely not an S7!

Maybe a bit more power than the N/A model now.
Subaru is on record as saying they want to hit 250hp while staying N/A for any potential STi BRZ model. No info on torque, but it's safe to say it'll be more than the current 151 lbft.

This is going to bump up the price of the BRZ to 35k-37k out the door for sure, I mean some subie dealerships are charging 32k for the current one out the door. Ridiculous. I would much rather turbo my current one or supercharge it.

Your math IS correct, as well as your formula. But you're reading your own results incorrectly. The BRZ in your chart has 1/10th of 1 HP for every pound, while the Saleen has two and a half times more HP for every pound.

Why? It's not like it's gonna sell for the same price. The five grand extra it will surely cost could have been put into a turbo kit and be on the road. Right now. Not sometime in the future. Maybe.

Think about it - the car has been getting stellar reviews from everyone in the biz, and I'm sure is in the running for car of the year, the only negative complaint I have heard / read from professionals is what they believe is the lack of horsepower. I'm certain the folks at Subaru are listening regardless of what they may have said at the beginning. Just imagine about some of the folks that have been on the fence because of what they consider low HP and now may have a Turbo option? Folks are bashing this idea and I am not real sure why, its still the car we love but with more HP. I understand if you already have one how this may piss you off, which is just what my wife said to me when I told her this rumor. I do think we will wait a few more months and see what is going on with the 2014 model before we place a order - which if the folks as Subaru don't come out and squash these reports / rumors folks like me will hold up on ordering and may decrease sales while we wait to see what is real and what is not.
Regardless only time will tell. But like I said before, why would folks keep making this stuff up?

my .02

Because I have noticed that most of the post against it are from folks that already have one. (and I want one, but can't find one. I can't imagine how hard it would be to get a hp upgraded version.

Because lag. If they can make it 200+HP NA, then I'd be excited.

Me no care for turbo and all the plumbing that comes with it, UNLESS it was an extra motor. I would love to build up a FI motor, but not from the current FA20.

I wonder who will be the first to order the turbo components off of the FA20T Legacy GT from Subaru and install them on their BRZ/86/FR-S.

Who can translate this?
