I should have waited for the this discount and not just the $70 that ended on the 10th. All your fault SAM. However, I might be thinking about a second set already. I could do with $100 off a set.

If it makes you feel better, I bought a set of RE71's and a set of Falken Azenis so I missed out on $30 on the Bridgestones and $75 on the Falkens.
I'm a bit disappointed, to say the least. |

They're going to be my "cheaper" tires for things like BMW club or TNiA or just non-competitive trackdays.
They were $200 cheaper than the Bridgestones and they are supposed to wear pretty well while being close (basically like the RS4 but those are on back order until April). I wanted to get them before the BMW event, I've got some heat cycled Stones I can use if I don't get the Falkens mounted (they're supposed to be delivered today). |

Autox is short and you have enough time between runs that you don't really need to worry about overheating your brake pads. For good, cheap pads, I liked running the Stoptech Street pads for autox and daily driving. The Hawk Street/Race pads are great for autox and beginner to intermediate track work (once you're an advanced track driver you need dedicated track pads). |

Ill also be at that autox school on march 3rd. I think we are testing the timing equipment then. Or I might instruct as well.

Picked up a set of 225/45/17 RE-71Rs from Discount Tire for $555. Tires were retailed at $165/tire, after tax total was $715. President's Day sale was $100 rebate, plus another $60 rebate for using a Discount Tire credit card. Great deal and only good today and tomorrow.

Last Sunday we had the first Equipe Rapide event of the season. We had 4 twins in STX. Eric took 5th place, Brandon took 4th, Sam got 2nd and I got first.
In novice Gerard took 5th in his FRS Brian didn't make it so no DS action was had in a twin. SCCA #1 is this weekend. Let the games continue.

I race with all the clubs, SCCA is the most competitive with the biggest turnout and they are the most stringent with the rules. You'll get 5 runs (rarely 6).
ER uses the SCCA rules but isn't as stringent with their implementation they usually give 6 runs. ER pays out cash for the top drivers and if you win your class you get a T shirt. NTAXS caps their events at about 70 people and they fill up fast (within 8hrs of opening) they give 8-10 runs and are great. Classes are just based on displacement, so you won't win but you don't get anything for winning so no biggie. BMWCCA has displacement based classes for non-BMWs you get 8-10 runs but they are the lowest attended. Ride-a-longs are limited to instructors, so you can only have a passenger as an instructor and novices can only ride with the instructors (the other clubs allow passengers with any competitors). There aren't any bad clubs to race with and most of the competitors attend events with multiple clubs. |
