The suicide rate in Japan is insanely high. Can't Scion just add to that statistic?

The Camry is a POS IMO too so I'm not sure what Toyota building them has to do with anything.

It was clearly an opinion, and Toyota stopped making good cars in the late 90s IMO.

And I guess that's still true since Subaru makes this one :P

And I don't hate Scions that much really

Basically, something that isn't really intended to make money (and Toyota says they're only breaking even), only to get young folks excited about the Scion brand so that they'll come into the dealership and buy the more affordable/profitable tC.

If that's the case, then a huge difference in price is only to be expected. After all, who would pay $80k for a Nissan, $90k for a Dodge, $115k for a Chevy, $150k for a Ford or $400k for a Lexus?
Could've saved themselves some R&D and just thrown a Scion badge on the LFA...

Personally I think $32,000 is reasonable for the high trim. Saying that I also plan on securing a full time job before I purchase one tho...I'm just finishing up College fyi.

$32k is acceptable to you??? Hell that'll be the Subaru price in Canada, only if it comes in at $22k in the States...

If it comes in at $32k I'll be at the Nissan dealer instead picking up a 370.

+1 going that route as well if that's the case, or just wait for the new Miata and or buy an old S2000.

Let me clarify myself a bit,

If you guys in the States get it for say $24,000 MSRP. (that seems fair right? )

Here in Ontario you'll be looking at probably more in the range of $27,000MRSP, but who knows with our dollar being strong maybe more.

1 Canadian dollar = 0.965624 U.S. dollars @11-28-11,22:31

. $27,000MRSP
+$3,500(HST) - Harmonized Sales tax @ 13%
+ $100(Air tax) - this one I know Subaru does but maybe not Toyota
+$1,600(PDI&Freight) - might be able to swing this, but leave it for now
=============
Total $32,200 CAD

so when I say I'm willing to spend that much, it's because I've spent the past year crunching numbers for other cars and it's never pretty living in Ontario.

I figure it'll be in the 25K range; there's really no advanced technology, AWD, turbo system or excessive luxury features to drive the price up.
