So, last night, leaving the gym, I said something to my girlfriend about how I was going to drop my car half an inch (you know, like a whole inch...) and she started going on about how I already scrape on stuff and "why would you do that?"

just tell her the same thing I tell my lady friend when she objects to one of my purchases. "When you are giving me a paycheck or earning money for me then you can tell me what to do with it. until then it's my money and my car and I will do what I see fit with them both.".
