Let's talk man. I've seen you've been shitting in a lot of threads. What's up with that? You just bored or intending to be annoying or what?

If you don't care, why are you joining the conversation?

My wife cares what I think. Other family and friends do too.

Many humans care about the topics we are discussing, which is the point of the thread.

This is a forum where people sell their superchargers and cold air intakes for a loss a month after proclaiming how they made the car the way it should've been from the factory. We aren't qualified to save the world

Here are some counter arguments against going vegan or reducing animal consumption, as it pertains to emissions, ecological impact, land and water use, etc. It is well made video, and it is convincing, but there are a lot of holes in the arguments. Nevertheless, I thought it would be worth posting "the other sides's" arguments (I have to feel some of them were intentional):

Actually since we are omnivores we can do either.

There is a zero waste movement. That shit is hard, but there is a reason why it is growing, and it is because recycling isn’t doing well and can’t do it all for us.

For reference, the first video has 5:30 of actual content, the rest was advertising. Start at 2:00 if you can't be bothered.

Recommend the second video in particular if anyone hasn't heard about how recycling used to "work" and how it doesn't now. Does a good job of explaining it. Note that it is particularly true for plastics, but I recall that metals and clean corrugated cardboard were still valuable recyclables in particular. Meaning, it is better to recycle than just trash everything, but it is not as effective as people are led to believe.

Unless I missed it, neither of these videos place the "origin story" where it should be, on the manufacturers of the products, and their primary markets.

Take plastic grocery bags for example. No one "likes" them. Paper bags worked much better, and would actually let you put more than two things in a bag at the same time. There was an art to loading them. A grocery chain I worked for had a contest at their annual picnic where the winner was the person that packed the most items in two bags, and when the bags were cut away the items would stand on their on.

Plastic bottles are another thing that was originally for the convenience of the manufacturers. Glass bottles, which were washed and reused, then ultimately melted down to make new bottles, were great. The deposit required for them also benefited anyone that was willing to pick them up and return them. As a child I funded my sweet tooth and my BB ammo needs almost exclusively with bottle returns.

Plasma gasification of waste products shows a lot of promise, and may be soon used on the Gerald Ford class aircraft carriers.

I think the second video did mentioned that.
