I haven't had to use a double-duty pad in many many years so my experience is with race-only pads.
Either way I documented much of it in this 4 page thread: http://honda-tech.com/showthread.php?t=3050206 If you're looking for hardcore and track-only pads there's some good info in there. |

Best way? At the track. Repeatedly stop until you feel just a hint of fade, and then let them cool down (rolling around the pits without touching the brakes is perfect) for about 10 minutes. After this, most, if not all, of the noise should be gone, and never return.

I'll quote my post from the other thread to save some effort for myself:

Hmm I'd probably just buy new rotor hats too, I know I'm too lazy to bother switching the hats over. To a point I agree on the noise, mine showed an even layer across the rotor and still scream like a banshee, but later they didn't show as even. Mine were smoking like mad during bed in too but I never got them to catch on fire.

I may have to take that back; I've never used an enduro compound quite like the C300. Apparantly they're known for making noise, even when fully bedded... the only way I can get them to not make noise, even on track, is when I'm threshold braking. Under trail braking, they still screech...
Even the Carbotech RP2 (another enduro compound) doesn't do that... |

I like this thread Can everyone update to a standard form BTW? First let's figure out the standard form.. maybe pcasso and Mike's? I modified it some, changed the scale.. discuss...
Brake Pad Manufacturer (F/R): Caliper (F/R): Compound (F/R): Tires: Feedback: Feedback... Scores: Dusting (1=low-10=high): Cold bite (1=low-10=high): Hot bite (1=low-10=high): Modulation (1=low-10=high): Noise (1=quiet-10=extremely loud): Pad Lifespan (1=short-10=long): (estimate/actual) Does the brake dust with this combination damage the wheels/paint if not cleaned immediately? (Y/N) Thoughts? I can modify the first post once we figure out the standard format.

Hmmm perhaps we just need to do more laps on the C300. I've never gotten them to fade, but I've also never driven more than 4 hot laps back to back; we've really only been testing and dialing in the car, rather than trying to run for times at the moment.
On the other hand, while they work just fine on the street in terms of stopping, the noise is... atrocious. Deafeningly loud at street stop speeds. Street pads are on the way :p |
