I'll believe this when i see an official announcement from Subaru.

They have plenty of other cars they can put this engine in first, and while the Gunma factory has its order books full don't expect a turbo version any time soon.

And will this mean they are ditching the Toyota port and direct injection system? Will Toyota allow this? Is it worthwhile for Subaru when the build ratio is already 8:1 / to add a different engine to the line?

Having said that, they'll announce it tomorrow ;-)

very good points you raised there.

i'm not a believer for factory FI to be released. but don't really care either way.

If Subaru announce it will build a turbo boxer for the BRZ, then one must also assume that Toyota will have its variant too & in greater quantities. I always thought it would happen & I really don't care when ! This car is now, lets enjoy it.

I remember reading somewhere that there is a gentlemens agreement between toyota and subaru not do any mechanical mods for a year after initial release, so i think it will be announced half way through next year, and i dont have a whole lot of confidence that there will be a big allocation sent down here, probably be 200 of each companies hi po variant for aus.

It WILL happen eventually and this is my GUESS as to when it will happen, but to think that toyota and subaru aren't working on a higher power model is just crazy imo, at the end of the day its a sports car, and what is something that will always be wanted in a sports car? MOARRRR POWWWAARRRR!!!!

one will just have to be quick to order if one wants a peice of that particular(limited ed) pie

The FA20 is going to be turbo, it is coming soon..
if it makes it to the 8RZ6 is a different story.

by the time they release it, or not long after, mine will have a genny mounted in the boot and a spa pump under the hood.. :\

Not really an issue.. is it ?? In three or four years there will be a better mousetrap of another brand... it's the way of the motoring world.. the 86/BRZ combo have just relegated the Intergra to history.. and so it will happen to these.. just enjoy it and in three or five years move on to the next big thing.. simple really.. all a matter of money Vs want..

A direct injected fa20 turbo already exists
Please go look at a JDM Subaru legacy and tell me otherwise
How is this related to BRZ/86?

IMO if they make a Turbo BRZ (STi?) and Turbo/SC 86 (TRD?) expect it to cost the same as WRX STi.

Toyota will never have turbo on the 86 they state that over and over again. But Subaru just might or will (by the looks of things)....

If they do it will kill their potential spiritual Supra update (if it actually exists).

I hope they dont put a turbo in it. If Subaru do, it wont matter too much, they dont make enough of them!
