Here a example to prove my post yesterday, where I said you need only hp for acceleration and you just need torque to generate hp when you got no high revs.
My friend has a motorcycle with 1150ccm , 86hp and 98 Nm. (bmw r1150r)
Ive got a motorcycle with 600ccm , 98hp and only 65 Nm. ( suzuki gsr600)
So guess what: my has 0-100km/ in 3,4s and his 4,5s. (there are just 20kg whight differents, which is nearly nothing)
in this case you see that hp is important, not the torque and physics are the same on bikes and cars.
when you guys would be right than this could not be possible and I must be much slower than he

You are forgetting about gearing.

Peak TQ and HP does not tell you anything about acceleration. Area under the torque curve is what creates acceleration. Your bike accelerates faster because it generates peak torque over a wider amount of RPMs than his. That's also why it has more HP (torque at higher RPMs = more hp). His bike I'm guessing makes peak TQ only briefly, and low in the RPM range, which is why it has less hp (HP = torque * RPM / 5252). Generating torque at high RPMs is what gives your bike more HP, and generating its torque for a longer amount of time is what gives it faster acceleration.

Yeah, thats in principle all i wanted to say. Of course it depends on the gearing. thats the reason why you can get more hp at less tq, but overall result of gearing AND torque is the Power (hp) that gets you to accelerate. you have to choose if you want high torque and low rpm or low torque and high rpm to get hp. All i i wnated to say is that you cant say you need tons of torque to accelerate when you got high revs.

What's the 2012 Toyota FT-86 like to drive?

It’s great fun. There’s fantastic throttle response, quick, well weighted steering and a nice firm brake pedal. Add little inputs to the steering when you’re driving in a straight line at speed and the front end darts immediately – no slop, no roll, it’s just 100% obedient and alert.
Well they didn't say anything bad about the steering feel or feedback, hopefully the electrically assisted power steering is indeed fine and doesn't dampen feedback etc.

I think the reason the drivetrain losses are the same for the MT and AT Z is because it has full lock up from 2-7th gear, so solid connection rather than fluid coupling.

Don't know what the IS-F has -- maybe matador knows?

Power losses aside (if the MT is ~17% and the AT around 20%, that's only going to be like a 5-6 hp difference), if the AT shifts really fast (untuned, the Z does it in < .3 seconds and can be tuned to shift much, much faster!), the AT car will still acelerate just as quick if not quicker as the MT.

If they're adapting the IS-F trans for the new car, it sounds like they are NOT going to do a repeat of their unforgivably bad AT for the 7th gen Celica GT-S. That was just cruel and inhuman.

That means we can probably expect a very fast, very sporty auto that will match or beat the MT in every regard, plus give you the luxury of being able to just cruise as desired :happy0180:

Definitely want to test drive one...

Details on the IS-F trans here

If they can make something like that for the FT-86 it will be pretty awesome!

Well, based on the CAR review, it sounds like its based on the IS-F. On the Car and Driver magazine, they liked the feeling of the prototype (which btw, I think Car and Driver had a test driver after both Car and Autocar?) which was an automatic as well. So that's a good sign

Also, how does the IS250/350 gear boxes compare?
